Well my weird day on Saturday - I found out I'm pregnant. It's very early days yet, and was totally unexpected.

I think I'm still in shock and am a little freaked out about it. We always wanted children at some point, but there were no plans any time soon. There is no doubt that this little chap should it choose to, will be hanging around though.

I've been ill all weekend, and can't keep anything down so now I'm worrying about not eating/drinking enough, I'm worried about the money side of things, and I'm also completely clueless about everything baby-related.

I know I'm being a bit pathetic, and people have babies all the time so I must be able to manage, but I'm still a bit

Congratulations :j:T That would explain why you have been feeling a bit bleurgh lately.

Sorry not been around all weekend was helping my mother move house. You cannot believe how much stuff an OAP has  Will catch up with diaryland soon.

Take it easy Jwil - things have a way of falling into place x

    Wow - congratulations :T

Babies when they are little need very little and freecycle are full of people giving away their baby stuff (I gave all mine away when DD was around 3).

Just listen to your body. You will be eating well enough soon enough ;)

  • Woo Hoo congratulations, a little jwil :T:T

As a mother and grandmother I can tell you we all feel the same so you're not pathetic or a wimp. I wouldn't worry too much about the eating side but do make sure you keep your fluid intake up. It might help if you could get your OH to bring you a drink and a couple of plain biscuits or piece of dryish toast before you get up.

Babies really don't need much and have no concept of designer labels. I'm sure you'll be overwhelmed with gifts.

Look after yourself. Oooh I'm so excited for you
  • Thanks P&F and DDFW it makes perfect sense really. I didn't know you could do cash on Eb*y, though it sounds a good idea.
  • Jwil, thats wonderful news, i'm really happy for you, take care of yourself and listen to your body.

I agree that babies need very little, just lots of love, somewhere warm to sleep and a full belly and they are generally happy.

Take care and lots of hugs.

Thanks everyone :) I really appreciate the support, it's too early to tell people yet so I don't really have anyone to talk to, and I've very little experience with babies so really don't have a clue what to expect.

When you said things were a built weird, I actually wondered to myself if you were pregnant. CONGRATULATIONS. :j:beer::T
Don't worry about the eating/drinking side of things, that always sorts itself out and your baby will always get everything he/she needs. It's no wonder you've been feeling grumpy/tired/out of sorts lately, Jwil!

How very very exciting, a little Jwil coming into the world. :j

Also don't worry about knowing nothing about babies, no-one does until they have one. You've plenty of time to prepare as well, so chill out and get over these early months. You will be the Mum you want to be, quite naturally and in your own time. (I have a hunch you'll be a fantastic Mum :).)

I'm so excited. Jwil is going to be a Mum and girls - WE ARE GOING TO BE VIRTUAL AUNTIES. :j:j:j:D

Jwil, go and get some rest - NOW. I can remember the first few months of pregnancy, I'd be so tired I'd give almost anything for a bit of kip - I remember once going into the toilets at work just so I could sit down and close my eyes for a few minutes. :D

    Congratulations again. :) :j:beer:
