  • peaceandfreedom - love how you are capturing the holiday experience at home - that'll be fab i actually would really like to spend some time off work and at home - we've actually booked our next hols and go away quite soon  *a hazard of having a fella who has no idea of the debt i am in :o* Still the money was there for the holiday itself its the spends i need to sort out so i'd better sell a heck of alot next month or i may be going hungry whilst away :eek::eek:

Hope you get the spends sorted out - you can always try to be frugal though this is difficult on holiday. Have a brilliant time in any case. :)
And relaxing / chilling - i am still finding this hugely hard to do :o i could lose myself in a book for hours or days in the past but my mind won't switch off and focus just now - maybe when i've got some of the stuff cleared thats bogging me down eh

You need to try to compartmentalise your problems. They will be there whether or not you spend all day worrying about them. Allow yourself to switch off for a while, it will do you so much good. If I allowed myself to worry about all the sh*t going on in my life, I'd have been carted off by the men in white coats by now. :D

I was very good today :) and as i had to write things down in my spending diary i did not go to the shops at lunch time for cake *my comfort food* i did 'spend' money on my PAD for the day and on transport - no other means of getting to work so i class today as a NSD :T:T

Well done. I must follow your example. I took out 40 quid cash at the weekend, have 25 left and I've no idea WHATSOEVER where the 15 quid went. How does this happen? Time to start noting stuff down.

yep, i think noting things down is the way to go now as that happens to me - money just disappears. i'm also trying to only use cash where its necessary - as if i get money out of the bank say £10 as thats the minimum but i only need it to cover an item of £3 the rest is squandered with no recollection of how :o

You are right of course p&f but i think what i need to do over the next couple of weeks (and will tie in nicely with trying to raise funds) is clear all the carp out of the house via bay of e, carboot, charity shop - the mess is stopping me from relaxing as there's always something staring me in the face that i need to do :o and i've got a couple of nights coming up where i'll have the time and hopefully the energy to just get it all done! its been hard though as the house hasn't been put right since the building work so things are all upside down!

Hope all is well with you hon x

Hey all - jwil thanks for the advice - i've checked and both addresses are the same. I will reply to the person and i will try and help them out with it as i do tend to but it does get to me sometimes because i am so skint anything like this happening (even though its for less than £20) creates a massive financial stress for me :o

If your situation is the same as mine was i felt like i was treading water with the debt ( i didn't have any loans though so there was no end date in sight on any of the debts) With your loan you know in x amount of time it will all be gone so that is fab. Something will happen though for you where you start moving forwards with the debt and i think you ppi claim could be just the thing - i know you said you don't know if you'll get anything back but do you know how much you did pay for it ? Obviously on here i've seen that people have got thousands back - i am keeping my fingers crossed that a nice big cheque comes your way hon :D Do let us know how you go on with it xx

I also think i owe more on my mortgage than you :o in fact definitely unless you have split your mortgage down in your sig for just your half and then mr jwils half isn't showing. i am currently trying to manage the pressure of this - hence the massive pushing on the debt right now.

What i have done this month is paid any extra income straight to debt so if i've sold something once the moneys in its paid off straight away. Its something i pretty much do all the time as if the money gets left it disappears

And i have been thinking its thursday but its not its wednesday - which means i have more days to go in work than i thought :(

Ooh whilst i remember has anyone seen any decent cashback offers of late ?

Glad the addresses are the same, it's definitely their problem now :)

My OU course has tipped it over the edge this time I think. There has been a lot of other expenditure as well, and all my 0% deals ran out. All of that combined has made this year very difficult.

I try and make overpayments with the sales, but sometimes I need the money to live on, so it doesn't happen.

I see. That seems an awful lot of money just to service debt. Is it because you are sending money to pay debts but then paying for things on credit and therefore building the overall debt back up?

Yep :o My minimums are high anyway (I have a lot of debt :o) but I keep paying off and spending the money again. I'm not increasing it, but it's not going down anywhere soon.
On my debt spreadsheet, I have a running total down the right-hand side which is the current overall debt. I subtract this from the debt at the end of December to arrive at my POAMAYC 2012 figure. So thankfully for me, my total is actually debt paid off. I am not paying any interest on any debt though.

It's a deliberate decision to count everything paid towards the debt - I wanted to use it to show me how much I'm wasting. It's certainly doing that :o I was hoping to reduce the debt by £10k this year, but that's not looking likely at the moment. The loans are going down, but the CCs are not.
I agree that you need a re-think and a re-focus. Perhaps you need to pay the minimum towards your debts for a while and use your ebay money to build up an emergency fund. Then you can take the option to never use credit for any further expenditure.

My problem is I don't have the spare cash at the moment. As I mentioned to DDFW, the extra expenditure and my OU fees have tipped things over this year. I didn't want to do the OU course this year, but had to as it was the last presentation of the course and I need it to complete my degree. I knew I couldn't afford it, but had to do it anyway. That will end in October though so that will release some of the pressure.

It will get better and the good news is my debt is still going down albeit very slowly and not like the figures in my sig suggest. My first aim is to have a non-spend on the CC month :D

They are scary figures aren't they - you should be so pleased that you are managing to send all this money to your debts, it's amazing. :T

I know what you mean about the OU course - this sort of thing happened to me too. It'll be good when that's paid off. And good when the course ends - it'll be one less thing to think about.

You are doing so well, just an adjustment here and there will surely see your overall debt go down. And it's great that the loans are going in the right direction. :)

It really does make me  about how much I'm spending. £7k  Think of the holidays I could have had this year alone. I could have loads of work done to the house!

I have been a bit slack with spending in places though too, so must crack down on that. Lunches in particular cost a lot if I don't get myself organised. I've been suffering with anxiety a lot again though recently, and so am less likely to eat well when that is the case (probably making me feel worse anyway).

I can't wait for this course to be over, I'm not enjoying it. Not only can I not afford it, it's so difficult too and I don't have the time to put to it. If I can pass it I will be ecstatic!

Anyway, in more positive news, I have just redeemed 2 x £10 amazon vouchers from survey sites so am happy about that :T :T

Hey jwil - needing the money to live on - again i have been in this exact same position xx

Well done on the vouchers hon :T As you say the course will soon be complete and you'll have a new degree :j:j:j and have the spare fee's money each month making things easier too x

Have you found it any easier with the mortgage payments changing at all ?

And again i'm here if you need me. I was guilty of splurging on cake at lunch time - prompted by another miserable work day :o

  • Just dropping by again :D I have the same problem as you jwil, I pay the cc £300 a month and I'm lucky if the outstanding balance drops by £100  On top of that the car has just cost me £650 and it has to go back to the garage on Tuesday for more work:mad:

On the bright side I at last sold something on Eb*y that I've been listing for nearly a year. I tried selling it at £40, £35, £30 and then fixed at £40. This time I listed it at £25 (which was a bargain) and it went for £37 (still a bargain) but it is something I'll never use again :T

I'm off to have a catch-up read. I hope you've all been good :rotfl:

Nope, that's how much I've spent servicing the debt this year, not how much it's reduced by :(

Even if its just servicing the debt, its a great achievement :)

Thanks DDFW, the extra £50 from the mortgage has certainly helped.

Hope today's not too bad for you :)

Hey retired, nice to see you again!

It's so frustrating isn't it with the huge amounts of interest. That's not good about the car either, hope it's nothing too major next week.

Well done on your ebay sale though :T :T It's always nice when you have a flurry of bids on something. You must be glad to get rid of it now!

We're always good on here :D :rotfl:

    Thanks HI :)
