Glad you're back in one piece KK :) Remember to ring the hospital if you want answers (although I quite understand *not* wanting them!) :o

DDFW - what's a specific knitting wool? Who says you can't crochet with it?? (or have you just got a specific project in mind??)

KK glad to see you back, when you feel upto it could you possibly give me the benefit of your experience, and let me know the adminy stuff you have to do when you move/ get your moving date (not got a date yet but hoping we may be close so i'm trying to get prepared). please pm if you don't mind helping so i don't clog up Pippi's diary. I won't be offended if you're busy recovering though.

Cheery i was thinking exactly the same about the wool i wonder what makes it knitting or crochet wool?

Flights booked, just under six weeks before I head north!!! :j:j

KK - take care of yourself hun. Things may hurt less than you thought they would, but you've just had an op and need to pace yourself. You should definitely get in touch with the hospital and ask any questions you have. I'm afraid I am one who needs to know what's going on....unlike my dad and lil'sis :o

I was thinking the same thing Cheery....I knit/crochet with anything I can find!! Going to investigate this making yarn from t-shirts adventure sometime during the next week..if I have time that is...what a manic time I have ahead!! I have three birthday presents to start and finish by the end of next week...4 if you include the jumper UFO I want to complete for DH's birthday next Saturday!! I may not have started the others, but there are lots of preliminary drawings!! :D

Right, off to bed soon so I can get up nice and early to get some gardning done tomorrow, before rewarding myself with some sewing in hte afternoon.

Have a good weekend everyone xx.

I'm feeling tiptop this morning, have walked about a bit without my crutches and just took my bandages off to have a gander (I was supposed to do this yesterday but cba). I know I'm rubbish at taking things easy and am already planning on dragging my brother out to bathroom shops etc!!

    Perhaps not.

I think my lack of wanting to know is kind of because I know what the next step is, fusion (yuck), its just the timing that's uncertain.....but today I'm chirpy and looking forward to my brother coming to see us :)

It's great to have you back KK and to hear that you're feeling good. Please take Keiss' advice and pace yourself though, it's all too easy to tire yourself out after an operation.

    Take care

    Morning all

Just a thought pippi if you wanted a quick and easy make that encourages recycling you can make hats out of old jumpers

You take an old jumper lie it flat then starting at the ribbing at the bottom cut out a square (or a head shape if you want to be fancy) through 2 layers. Then put them right side to right side and sew together. Turn it the right way out and you have a brand new, up cycled, warm hat for windy days.

Just an idea for you. It came to me when keiss mentioned unravelling jumpers.

Hope you have a good day today everyone

I never thought of that, but have used the arms of an old jumper as legs warmers.

Sorry everyone - in knitting i have experimented with all sorts of material - ribbons, threads anything really that can be long enough to knit with :D I agree its good to have a go with things and see how it turns out :)

As i'm a complete novice with crochet i'm not ready to experiment on trying to crochet with the wool i just bought and would probably need a much bigger crochet hook? As its pom-pom wool :D Any advice would be appreciated though and i'd be willing to give it a go - just thinking the little chains i make would be far too small for the pom-poms to squidge through

Aha I understand now! :D I can see why you're reluctant to crochet if your wool has pompoms on it! What fun though :D

    Aah, pom-pom wool....all is revealed!! :D

Been supervising DS2 in trimming off lower branches of our multistemmed silver birch this morning. Sad it has to go, but it has grown so much and is now taller than the overhead wires, so indanger of damaging them, so it has to go :( Borrowed a sturdy ladder from a friend yesterday, ours is a bit weedy, and short. DS2 managed to get loads of lower branches lopped and sawn off. He also cut down the thinnest, and shortest of the three trunks. We have moved all the branches to the bottom of the garden, so quite a busy morning! Wonder how long it will take for DH to notice! He is away all day today, and I didn't tell him we were planning on attacking the tree today!

Think we could bring the rest down tomorrow, with two of us holding ropes to guide the trunks down, while DH attacks with the chainsaw!! The borrowed ladder can be folded to form a platform, making it much safer for DH (who hates heights of any kind!). We have to make sure we avoid the overhead cables, as well as our neighbours' gardens. The tree is over 30 feet tall, and our garden is only 20 feet wide, so things could get tricky!!:eek:

Once the tree is down, we will have to see if we can dig the roots out, though we may let them rot in situ instead. Think DH and DS2 will prefer this option :D.

Right, need to get off the computer, have so much to do this weekend.

Enjoy the lovely weather this weekend...if you have some that is!!
