Ooh to posh socks Piq. Loving the housework tips tooGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

piq you've been watching me do my housework haven't you! i thought we agreed you wouldn't divulge my secret methods. lol
Pippi i vote for the sofa as well with a good book0 -
OK I'm feeling the sofa vibe here - I'm not able to 'sit' until I tidy as its a bit messy. I'd like to blame the teenagers but I fear I'm to blame.
Excellent household tips here from both LT and Piq! Therefore - I've nodded to the hoover and stroked the dishwasher - not in a weird way. And popped the kettle back on. I don't know if we own polish - what fun I'll have looking.
I might dig out the sewing machine and have a play about.
That will be fun and also distract me from the dust/paperwork.
I miss tv - we're seriously thinking of getting satelitte again - just to have tv.
Might dig out the local paper later and call the local firm to see what deals they've got. Mr F said we could have something fun.
I must do the banks again too - and pad to something. And, freezer surf and get a list of what we might need food wise in the house - its dwindling the freezer stash - more bread and milk based at the moment.
But, I've not cast a canny eye for a while.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

(my socks have got little cheery birds on today)
Spray polish in the air, smells like you've dusted, say hello the hoover, give it a loving pat - housework now done. Don't worry about not doing it thoroughly, it doesn't go away, it will still be there tomorrow....
I'm wearing knee length pink and purple stripey socks today. Because I'm feeling posh they're a matching pair!
Piq
Adding to the socks chatter i have socks with bunches of cherries on them today
Shame you've missed out on work and therefore the income and a possible bit of socialising too pippi but hopefully it can be re-arranged so you won't miss out. When i was self-employed and couldn't get somewhere due to the weather i'd have to miss out entirely until the next time meaning a loss of money. Ho Hum! It was also shocking the number of people i rang to say i couldn't chance it due to the weather - they'd perhaps hoped i just go anyways as they hadn't cancelled and said 'oh, we're completely snowed in - you'd have got here but not got out again'
Hope you've settled on something you've been happy doing today anyways x

I'm pottering and tidying DDFW and I'm considering getting the 'work' sewing machine out and becoming less scared of it.
I know what you mean about being self employed - gotta try and make pennies when the folks come a calling.
I'm more annoyed it just shifts workload about into next week - which I could do without.
Then again - a chance to tidy isn't to be sniffed at.
Freezer surfing has performed miracles
Sausages for frog in the bog - Friday tea or saturday tea
Quorn for tonight - made a curry with that
Beef for stew - for weekend
Haggis for lunch
And had a rearrange - alot of fish in there but not much in the way of meat - will top it up at a later date but at least I know to buy meat not fish.
Keiss - I had a thought - a knitting workshop -inspired by those rather fine hand warmers you've sent..........or something to teach folk to knit (ps I'll dig out the strawbs when at college asap) x

A knitting workshop sounds fantastic
Certainly something i'd sign up to if i were nearer then i could improve my meagre skills
Ooh - i'll ask on here if thats ok? Just with all this talk of frozen food. I nabbed me an absolute bargain yesterday at the food shop - 2 large briskets of beef for 99p each - one was reduced from £7.14 and the other from £4.79 :T But i've never cooked brisket of beef beforeAny suggestions on recipes or is this one of those 'bung it in the oven for a long time type things?'
In case anyones wondering at my lack of cookery knowledge i was pretty much brought up on shop bought food rather than homecooked - needs must and all that i guess and then when i *could* have been interested in cooking i became vegetarian and was until not too long agoCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Popping by with a quick hello, will catch up at the weekend.
DDFW- Brisket is definitely one of the 'cook really slowly or it can get a bit tough' sort of joints. I generally bung it in a casserole dish with some stock, rather than do it like a roast, and it generally works ok.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Gilligansyle is right about brisket being one to slow braise.
I think it might be something you could do in a slow cooker if you have one, however, as a vegetarian I'm not really qualified to help!

I'm not a vegetarian but I don't eat meat either (don't ask) so I can't help you with cooking brisket either. I would probably bung it in a casserole like gilligan suggestedGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000
