Morning Stripes, thought I'd check in and see how things are. You sound a very busy bee at the moment. Sounds windy here but I haven't stuck my nose out the curtains yet to see what its like. Hope its not too bad as I've got some raspberries to plant. Have a good weekend.

  • Hi Pippi and all the stripey gang.

Just swooshing in (weather a little bit windy here today - would be regarded as a 'calm day' on the island of flowers, but tis bloomin' swooshy on the Greying scale 'o things! :)) to say Pippi if you have enough internet/broadband 'juice' to listen to a half hour radio programme, Radio 4's Food Programme this lunchtime was quite interesting and might be worth a listen.

    Greying swooshing out............

I listened to that programe too greying while weeding one of my veg plots!! You're right, it was very interesting. :)

I got the plot cleared and then planted all my garlic plants. I planted the bulbs in October last year and kept them in the greenhouse. They've been out hardening off the past couple of weeks, so needed to get into the ground as the roots were coming out of the bottom of the pots! They'll be much happier in the ground if the weather gets colder (we need at least a few weeks of sub-zero temperatures...please!!).

I found masses of whitefly on the kale :eek:, so rooting out one of my sprayers and will give them a skoosh of water with added Stardrops..that should sort them!!! The greenfly in the greenhouse will also get a spray. I found a few ladybirds, so transferreed them into the greenhouse to hopefully feast on this greenfly population, if Stardrops doesn't do the trick.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday and not getting blown about too much xx

 Now Keiss, I love garlic and I used to love growing my own bulbs - but I'm rather enjoying the 'above' zero temperatures we're getting at the moment. Can't you give the garlic an 'icy-glare', or the 'cold shoulder' or something?? :rotfl:

Could practice the cold stare on the aphids I suppose!! :rotfl:

I listened too and agree, interesting. I dont mind sub zero temperatures as long as the sun shines and I am well wrapped up.

Bizarrely, I found some garlic in the garden this morning :D Remember planting some a few years back, then the whole place was so overgrown I couldn't find it when it was time to harves :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It appears it did grow after all, and now I have two whole bulbs, all clumped together, and sprouting in the garden, all by itself :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
