  • "but they always want those packet Thomas cakes, which are the same thing ony with a little sticker on the top - can you buy those stickers does anyone know?? "

Shez - I'm not one for big ideas, but I was just thinking (I do that sometimes, not a lot!!) could you just buy those sheets of rice paper (used to love them) and a pack of the writing pens (the edible sort LOL) and then LOs could draw their own piccies onto the rice paper and you could stick them on with icing. Just a thought. That way you can have your h/m yummy cakes without the thomas the tank mix!

Anyhow thats my lot for now - gotta go and get ready for our family workout. This week - Badminton - again!!!

    Morning All:hello:

Hippo Birdy Arkonite Babe.:bdaycake: Hoe you don't mind my asking, but what does your user name mean? I often wonder about various peoples, they all must mean something special to the user & I'm nosey:o

Wel,, firstly had a good result with my grocery shopping last night, I had budgeted £55 & only spent £44 including saving stamps so I was very happy. :j Getting back on this budgeting-meal planning-shopping with care-OS wagon can be a bit daunting but I feel like everyones giving me a helping hand onto it at the mo so thanks everyone:T, you are all :A:A:A

Got S & B-i-L 's comming for dinner tonight so roast chicken & all the trimmings, as I had the chicken lurking in my freezer it's only costing me a sack of spuds & some veggies both of which I would have had to buy anyway:D OK, I have bought a ready-made pudding but only 'cos they were on BOGOF & reduced anyway & I'll need another pudding later in the week with mere visiotrs come (sometimes I feel like I am running a mini-resteraunt!) And I will be very good & make stock overnight in the SC to use on my Aubergine caserol tomorrow (got that recipe from another thread yesterday;))

Got to have a general tidy round & a bit of light housework, also need to clean out the great (yuck) & lay another fire ready for tonight:cool:. Does anyone else with a log fire cheat clenaing it out & stick the vacuum pipe it it too, or is it just me?:o;)

Waiting to hear if I have had any luck with a new living room mirror from freecycle, usually I get in too late but am hopeful about this, hubby broke our last one when re-plastering the chimney breast:rolleyes:

Anyway, I best go & shovel some breakfast down Spud & get on.:coffee:

    Have a fab day everyone:wave:

  • Morning :hello:

Not signed in for a few days due to running around :o

Happy Birthday Arkonite Babe! Have a lovely day.

I'm the only one up at the moment due to letting my DS's have a late night. DH is on nights so has just crawled into bed till lunch time. We both have the week end off which is rare, so have promised myself to spend quality time with the boys.

Update on 95 yr old Grandma, she has fully recovered from fall & now has pendant installed, went round yesterday to find it on sideboard, when questioned she said she won't wear it as it makes her feel old

Must get round to doing some ironing too today,my pile has to be seen to be believed!

Very foggy here, waiting for it to lift a bit before taking pooch out.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and a better nights sleep!!

Have a fabulous meet next week incase i'm not inagain and PLEASE may we have some piccies :j
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Morning everyone,

Been up with DS since six. We went to ASDA to do a shop - mostly tins and pasta as we were nearly out of staples. I have just had an interesting encounter with an exotic fruit and some ants! I bought some chikoo from Tesco the other day. For those of you who have not heard of them they are divine. They come from India and look a bit like a small potato. The are a fruit, and the taste is out of this world. The taste a bit like a cross between a grainy pear and toffee/caramel - I kid you not! I know they are not very air miles or OS friendly, but they hit the sweet fix spot very nicely, especially when you are on a diet!
Well anyway, I cut one in half to eat and discovered three or four ants living inside! Looking closer, you can see where they have entered the fruit. This caused great excitement in the family and DS was fascinated. Here is a question however - what to do with the ants! Will it be ok to release them into the wild to fend for themselves, or as they are Indian ants will they upset the eco system???:rotfl: At the moment they and the fruit are in the bin! I am not even sure about adding them to the compost bin.
Anyway, this reminds me of the time my mum started eating a blood orange and just avoided biting into a large, fat white grub! I have not been able to eat blood oranges since:rotfl:
My plans for the day are tidying, reading, playing with DS and cooking a daal in the slow cooker for tea.
    Have a great Saturday everyone

  • Good Morning All

    Happy Birthday Arkonite Babe

Cold but lovely & sunny here today. Have a lie in and a slow start also had a lazy day after all yesterday so feeling very rested with loads to do! I shall be concentrating on ironing today in front of the telly. However firstly I have to drop DS at football practice.

Just opened my post and found my electricity bill for £448! its been estimated for ages and has now caught up with me. They are not asking to up my DD but think will ring them and do it myself.

Best get off now and at least get dressed.

    Have great weekends.

Good morning folks. I hope you are all well today.

    2j1ld7pTO YOU ARKONITE-BABE.

It is a beautiful clear day here and it is nice to see blue skies. Haven't been out yet so I don't know if it is warm or cold. I'm sure I heard yesterday that the forecasters are predicting a real cold spell during the middle of Feb which will bring snow and blizzards and I did hear temps of -14c. We shall see!! :D

Going to blitz upstairs today, in between entertaining the little darlings and some creative cooking. I think they can make some home made pizza for lunch and I think we'll settle for mash and mince for tea. I know they will all eat that.

Oh has been forced to slow to a stop with his back, he tried to do a little housework to help while I was at work and pulled it by lifting the hoover over the child gate!! It's an intemittant problem and we have a lovely lady who will put it right for him if it does not improve over the weekend. I suspect it 's probably a message from upstairs telling him to slow down. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK, I'm off, see you all later. Smoky.xxxxxx

Hiya Lillibet, my username comes from my nickname at Primary School because, um I loved mushypeas! :rotfl: :rotfl: At Primary even the teachers called me Mush towards the end. When I went to secondary school I had to learn to respond to my real name!
