OS daily thread 3rd February
Churchmouse
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 3rd Feb2007 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
OK I'm a naughty little minx, but I thought I'd get in first today!
Good morning everyone, hope Saturday is a good day for you all!!:D
I'm still sat here 'cos I know if I go to bed, I'll just toss and turn for hours. Last night I saw 4 am come round and still I hadn't slept.
Plans for today include long phone call to Dad ( about absolutely nothing, but he's old and Mum died 11 months ago, and he's finding it hard).
Then some real funtime with DGSs. DS2 will bring them over quite early. DGS1 is becoming a bit of a handfull. Started nursery class a couple of weeks ago. Thinks he now knows it all!:rotfl: DGS1 is 10 weeks old and pure joy!!:D Full of smiles and a lovely happy disposition!:D DS2 is going to install the extra memory on my laptop, so speeds should be extra fast. And will give DDIL time for some rest! My DIL is a real love, couldn't have picked better if I'd chosen her myself!!:D Now DIL2 that's another story!!:rotfl: :rotfl: My nickname for her is the Canadian witch, think that says it all!!!!!!
Can't believe how tidy I've kept the house this week, have really been inspired by the moggins thread!
A new mountain of ironing has materialised, which I shall try to deal with while making the appropriate sounds to Dad tomorrow!! Have to say the new steam generator iron I bought is worth it's weight in gold!!!!
((((((hugs))))))) for the taking for all that need them.
Enjoy your weekend the best that you can,
love CMxxxx
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday, arkonite babe!! Hope it's a good one!:D

Hiya Churchmouse and everyone to follow :hello:
Churchmouse, it looks like you're set for a good day
(except for the ironing, of course...)
Happy birthday arkonite_babe! :bdaycake: :T:T:T
Well, I have a fairly free weekend in sight. Have a quick errand tomorrow then I shall concentrate on doing what housework there is to do and plan my meals for the next few days. Been a good girl and spent very little, and all on good quality foods, so the meals will be nutritious and moderate.
One unexpected expense I have to make is a new birdcage  The one I have has seen better days and I have noticed some cracks in the tray and around where it connects with the wiring, which over time must have accumulated dirt and germs that no washing can really get rid of. So off to the pet shop where I have seen the right one at a good price. Oh, and I don't spend money buying sand or sand sheets - I put brown paper sheets I make with grocery bags. They work perfectly well, are recyclable and cost nothing. Also the used brown envelopes from paperwork I get from head office, are excellent.
Then I want to translate some of those recipes for posting here in OS - if peeps are looking for yet more food ideas!
Have a good Saturday all of you! :jBe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Hello everybody,
I'm at the library atm. No internet connection. They say Monday but that won't be any good to us as we will be half away across the world by then. Hope you are all well. We've been busy, busy, busy. I have finally packed our ports.
Only one day to go now. Having a bit of a farewell party tomorrow. It's DGS birthday in March so I'm letting him having his presents tomorrow. I have to go home now and make a cake for him. I'ts been dreadful weather here and just to top it off a cyclone up north.
Have taken lots of photo's of the house so will post them later on once we're settled and have internet on. Best go as I have to get a few supplies before heading back home. Happy Birthday to Arkonite Babe & ((((hugs)))) to all that need them. I am looking forward to seeing those that are coming to the meet.
If I don't catch up with you in the next week in London, see you then. I didn't have room to pack my hot pants, so had to leave them behind.
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Good morning Churchmouse, Quasar & Aussielass, and all that follow
Me too cant sleep, I went to bed some 2.5hrs ago. OH was snoring his head off, Just as I was nodding off, he kept fidgeting, Normally he sleeps in the spare bed (as much as i love him) I like my space in the bed. Anyway, I decided to get up (in the meantime - I put the lecky blanket on, in hope it will burn his AS5 so I can go back to bed) :rotfl:
Churchmouse enjoy your day with your DGS's. I always used to wander what my exMIL use to think of me! We used to argue and fight (yes fight) its been known for us to brawl in the street - lol. BUt then there's times when she's been a great help to me & my ex, and Ive jumped thru hoops to help her & the family out! My exFIL is a different story. I love him too bits!
Happy Birthday arkonite babe! - hope its a good 1 for you! :T
Me too Quasar - need to get my head round emptying the freezers & cupboards and meal plan for the next week. Try and limit the weekly shopping budget again. Might be lack later to get advise or to search the threads.
Aussielass, hope that cyclone stays away, and have a safe trip to the UK. Bring your thermols with you - mind you - in some parts its been fine with glorious sunshine!
Hamsters are doing there daily exercise and going like the clappers in their wheels. Dog snoring! Can hear OH snoring - so I got no chance of going back to bed.
Right, catch you all later
Have a great Wk End everyone
Take care & Love as usual

Morning all.
Woke up about 5am and couldn't get back to sleep so decided to get up rather than wake the BF up by tossing and turning.
Happy Birthday, arkonite babe
Churchmouse - moggins thread has inspired me too, the house has never looked so good.
Lots of errands to run today and a bit more decluttering, which appears to be a neverending task and I thought I didn't actually have that much stuff !!
Hope everyone is well and has a good day today. Hugs to those of you that are in need of one.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
Morning. I missed yesterday, a little hung over from birthday, coupled with too much to do. Today is back to work day, could be interesting, depending on results in the week...
Yesterday I went to town and got lucky on some more e-bay stock. The sales are finally over and I got ladies shoes for 70p a pair. Should make a few pence on them I hope.
Went out to see a rock and roll band last night, sort of belated birthday thing. Great fun that was too....
Things don't seem quite so normal when you have no weekend and are working...
But you all have a nice one anayway.... CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all
Happy birthday Arkonite Babe, I hope it's good one
Off into town in less than an hour for the DDs swimming lessons, then tap dancing & ballet classes. At least it's all over in one hit. DH has invited a colleague & wife round for a meal tonight, so I'll spend all afternoon cleaning the house
Good news from madmel land is that DH has landed himself a brilliant new job, subject to all the security clearances, as it involves Ministry of Defence contracts. After 19 months of him doing p/t bits here & there and getting frustrated and angry, this has made our month :rotfl: It also means that from September, I shouldn't need to work so many hours, but I'm not jacking anything in til he's settled and happy.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Melanie0 -
Morning all :hello:
Happy Birthday a_b :bdaycake:
I hope all the littlies are feeling better today
I haven't been sleeping properly for ages, I hate taking any type of medication but by teatime yesterday I felt awful so I took some sleeping tablets last night. I slept even less than usual  My plan was - good night's sleep, get up around 9am, breakfast, long hot shower followed by lots of body lotion, quick hoover round downstairs, sort the washing then make some cards. Settle in front of TV for 3 hours (yes 3 HOURS) of CSI with an Admiral's Pie and a big bag of minstrels for pudding
Instead, I was up at 5.45am - looking about 10 years older than I actually am - and making a cuppa and pouring rice krispies into a bowl was very hard work :rolleyes:Bulletproof0 -
morning all
looks a bit frosty out, might go to asda later then the greenhouse needs a clean out, think there must be a mouse nest somewhere as there is a lot of polystyrene crumbs on the floor, they must be brave as the cats sleep in there sometimes
Happy Birthday arkonitebabe :j
welcome bellabella and hope you have a lovely time over here aussielass
hugs to all xx0 -
'Morning everyone :hello:
Haven't been around for a few days - I've been busy at work and absolutely shattered when I have got home. It is now the weekend :j and I have 3 whole days off! (taken Monday off as I need a rest)
I am just going to chill out and do OS things. I'm making celery soup today (batches for the freezer) and doing some baking. It will be scones (to use up the buttermilk from butter making) and whatever else I fancy making.
Have a lovely OS day everyone and Happy Birthday to A_B and all those who have birthdays today :bdaycake:Enjoying an MSE OS life

Morning folks
Off to work in a min. Just a short day - finish at 1.
Plans for rest of day will (have) to include a deep clean of the bathroom and probably the ironing I have been putting off
Had a bit of a run in with my mother in law yesterday. There was a bit of an issue (nothing to do with her) which she got wind of and then phoned crying down the phone to me. Even after an explanation I was still getting the blame
She really does annoy me at times!
Must dash
Have a great Saturday everyone0
