lil_me wrote:Haribos, just the thought gives me toothache now but when DP and I went to Paris in 1999, we saw a market being set up on morning, when we came back out there was over 30 stalls full of Haribos! I've never seen so many, or teddies/strawberries etc so BIG! We bought about £30 worth, most of which went into the staff room at work when we got back as we ended up with toothache!

I am a wicked mother... On the rare occasions my kids get haribos I nick all the fried eggs and cola bottles. They used to not know they even existed.
Same with strawberry and vanilla petits filous. I used to eat them with my head in the fridge.:o
Reminds me of a story I heard about a mum whose child was shocked the first time she saw chocolate bunnies in tesco and said to her mum " How come the ones I get don't come with ears?"

I was the same, until the toothache kicked in. It was amazing to see, was outside http://www.parisdigest.com/photos/Grandearchedudessous.jpg looked amazing as they had banners everywhere. For that £30 we got loads of it, and nearly lost all my teeth before we got home :rotfl: The teddies were about 4-5 inches high, same with the cola bottles, fried eggs were like a real sized egg!! I called a friend (she has the photo of the stalls still) as she was nicknamed Hari by us as she was a Haribo Junky too
she called me lots of nasty names as she was jealous.
Wicked mother, not me but someone else - the kids I used to childmind for were 5 and 7 and still thought the icecream van was the MusicMan van ! How mean! One day I might be more organised...........

Looby-loo I'm so sorry for your friend, her family and you. Life can be so cruel sometimes. My prayers and thoughts are with you all (((((hugs))))
My username? Like so many sat with mind a complete blank, then thought of the saying "as poor as a Church mouse". To be honest, we're very far from being that, but as I'm quite involved in my Church, and we were that poor many years ago, it seemed appropriate! I really expected it to be taken, and was amazed when it wasn't. Found out later, there IS another but she spelt it churchmouse with a small "c" so the site had let me register with a capital "C". I felt quite inadequate in my choice of name, feeling that yours were all so much better, but now I quite like it!:D
CMxxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Churchmouse I must confess that I have never noticed the capital C at the start of your name. Now I must wonder who I have responded to in the past.
I never realised that there was more than one churchmouse on this site. Then again, surely there can only be ONE OS Churchmouse?????
DS, DD and I decided to call a truce and played Monopoly for a while. DS was in the lead but threw a strop when he thought he had been conned out of £40k (we were playing the new version where you start off with £15million btw). He got so worked up about it that I just couldn't handle it anymore and ended the game. He was so like XDH when he would shout and sulk about a game of cards or something. XDH would sulk for days about a game (a GAME for heaven's sake). I soooooooo don't want DS to end up like that. DD and I tried to explain that we were only playing a game but he took it so personally. I will try again tomorrow.
Off to finish my book now. Hope Saturday has been good to you all. xxx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Please stop now. i've gone all shaky.0 -
Another memory from being a child is monopoly, games would last days and have to be moved carefully off the dining room table while we ate etc. My Dad was always the one to take it personally, maybe it's a male thing!
Haribo Junkie sorryI will not mention those delicious GIANT haribos again (see I just couldn't resist one last mention :rotfl: )

anniebooklover, the other churchmouse entered details on the "getting to know you" thread, but I haven't noticed her posting on OS:D ( I did apologise for hijacking her name, but she didn't seem too bothered, thank goodness!!)
If the Churchmouse is from London, it's me!!! If from Yorkshire, it's her!:rotfl:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Churchmouse I hope I can remember which one is you - I have the mind of a 534-year-old so please don't take it personally if I mix you up with the other cm.
lil me I guess it is a male thing but I really hoped I had brought DS up better than that. He is normally quite a laid-back lad (in fact more than one of his teachers told me that if he was any more laid back he would be horizontal!) but it would seem that his main male influence i.e. grumpy, angry old XDH, is rubbing off on him.Its such a pity as he is such a lovely, lively, funny, loving boy most of the time. I guess I have to trust in his good points over-riding the bad points and hope he will turn into the lovely young man I know he can be. I know that the old saying is true though- only he can make the mistakes, I can only hope to guide him. God, being a parent really sucks at times, doesn't it?
Time for bed. Sleep well all. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

HariboJunkie wrote:As for my user name..... Well, yes I do eat more starmix than is natural. It's an addiction that stems from my childhood..... My father used to bring them back from Germany before they were available over here;)
I was thinking of you today when I was polishing off the end of the Haribo sweets from the sweet jar.I have a thing about them too.
