  • Thanks BR, so pleased I'm not in this alone - it's always nice to have someone along to give you a helping hand when you need it.
I ended up spending £82 in total yesterday on groceries, which had better last up until the end of the month (apart from a few fresh bits and pieces next week). I too am like you - I have £6 in my purse and it really needs to last me until payday to be honest.
Day 2 of SW and so far so good. We did go out for ice cream earlier, as our family 'thing' for this week so I have been naughty on that front but everything else has been quite saintly. I've had a headache all day, and can only assume that it's my body detoxing from all the rubbish I've been chucking in over the past few weeks. I've planned and prepped most stuff for meals next week - still thinking about what to do with chicken. I got a load of chicken thighs and drumsticks from the butcher yesterday really cheap, but I normally only do either a whole chicken, or just the breast - so a learning curve coming up I think. Hope I can keep the motivation for that going.
I've also been on the main dfw forum and I've joined in the weekly spend challenge and the nsd challenge - they're both normally quite good at keeping me on the straight and narrow as long as I commit to reporting in.
Come on then BR, we're in this together:beer:

I deffo need someone there at least to keep my mood stable if not up! Last week was difficult as I felt very low, more so as I've felt almost 'normal' the week before so it was a bit of a crash.

Yeah, we normally do a whole chicken which would then do us for two meals - how ever i do have a vague memory of doing a 'chicken thigh/drumstick stew' thing many moons ago when i was on WW - this sort of thing http://www.essentialkids.com.au/recipes/family-meals/chicken-drumstick-and-vege-casserole-20120614-20cgf.html although nicer lol

  • :DWell, something lovely has happened to me today :D
I had completely forgotten about getting my butcher friend to do a load of meat for work (hearts/lungs etc), and my petty cash claim was paid back yesterday - an extra £23 that I'd forgotten all about. That never happens these days - and goes to show how far I'd slipped off track in terms of keeping tabs on my money.
I did debate putting the cash in the sealed pot but I think I'm going to hang onto it as a little extra safety net. If I still have it by payday then great, I'll put it in the pot then.
Still hanging on with SW too - I know it's only day 4 but it's the best I've done in a long while. We're having chicken for dinner tonight but I'm still deciding exactly what to make with it. Torn between spicy fajita stuff, or good old chicken dinner. Will decide when I get home.

  • We had spicy fajita stuff. Nom nom. I got pork chops out and am doing pork, mash and gravy (and veg) for dinner tonight.
Feeling fairly good - I'm on day 5 SW, and haven't blown it yet (small steps), and had 2 nsds in a row Monday and yesterday.
Planning to do the same again today so fingers crossed.

Does anyone else wonder what it would be like just to wake up one morning and have nothing to do? I get up at 6 and after I've got myself ready I then fed the cat, put the bins out, sorted lunches, prepped dinner, washed the dishes and put a load of washing in. Followed by getting the kids up, feeding them and getting them dressed, all for us to leave the house by half seven.
Now a full day at work, then home for dinner, bath etc etc etc.

  • Spent £2.66 today - was out of work on a meeting and had the choice of either buying myself some lunch or blowing the diet.
    I bought lunch.

    That's pretty much my life.
I don't have a lot to fill my days.

  • Well I got home last night and did absolutely nothing, as I'd planned.
Then, surprise surprise, it was all waiting for me when I got up this morning - just twice as much as usual. That'll teach me... I did have a lovely evening just chilling in front of the telly with a cheeky drink but just had twice as much to do this morning.
I'm doing ok spend wise. Spent £2.66 on lunch yesterday but otherwise ok - have slipped off the diet wagon a little bit today (buffet lunch at work unfortunately), but normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
    Come ON weekend.

We've gone over our remaining housekeeping budget now *sigh* but we needed more stuff than I'd realised.
That *should* be it now until pay day...

  • I am so short of petrol now I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to get into work on Monday... hmmm. May have to liberate a tenner from the honeymoon pot - it's getting that desperate.

  • Oh... I almost forgot. How I forgot I don't know, but I applied to go through threshold (teacher speak for a payrise after 6 years) and found out yesterday that I got it :D
Even better than that, when I get paid in November I'll get September and October backdated - so that should definitely soften the blow of the unpaid week when my son was in hospital.
Also I've been accepted to mark more exam papers this November, which will be brilliant for me this close to Christmas.

  • Oh wow, excellent news.
I keep asking Mr BR to investigate the same sort of thing, but he keeps 'forgetting' *sigh*
He doesn't mark papers although I will be invigilating them ;)
