  • Oh the big day is this month!!!! EEEEEKKKKKK - I get so excited thinking about it, but then really nervous. We get married on the 31st.
Most stuff is done and paid for - there are only a couple of things still waiting to be done. Unfortunately I've been quite naughty the past few days and gone a little overboard with buying bits and pieces to accessorise the wedding. I checked my bank balance yesterday, just the day after payday and I'm almost skint. All the debt payments for the month are gone (thankfully everything goes out on the first) but it was really scary as I've not seen my bank balance that low for quite some time.
However, aside from wedding stuff I've also paid house insurance for the year and a new fridge freezer. Thankfully we actually get married on my next payday so if all else fails I'll have next months pay sitting there for me. I've been devastated watching my bank balance getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
So that was the shock I needed to get the lightbulb back up to maximum wattage. This is going to be a seriously frugal month. I don't need anything else for the wedding. Nope, I have enough for day and night-time tables, favours, gifts, registrar, hotel etc etc etc. The only stuff I'll pay for now is stuff that needs final payment (cake, suits, flowers, hotel, hair and makeup).
The ultimate irony is that as I've been typing this, the postman has arrived with another box of something I ordered off eBay for the wedding.
    Oh the shame :o:o

  • Today is a big non mse day... it's my hen do!!!!!
Just about to head out for lunch with 15 fantastic friends (this is being done on our local Italian restaurant happy hour so quite mse), followed by a few drinkies in my back garden, followed by a night out to see a show.
I wasn't going to have a hen do as I thought it was a bit of a waste of money but I'm really looking forward to it now. I'm quite touched that so many people want to spend time with me.
OH is in bed, as he's gone back to work on a permanent nightshift, and he's on babysitting duty tonight. It's been horrendous trying to keep the kids quiet in the house all morning, but by the time he went to bed he'd been awake for about 22 hours so he really needs to get some sleep. He's been ok since he went back. Really up and down. It was 2 years yesterday since his mother died so it was a bit of a hard day yesterday, but then by this morning he was really up again - moaning because he has to babysit today and he really wanted to drive 3 hours to watch a football match.
Just less than 3 weeks to go till the wedding, and I confess that August 2012 has been my least mse month since I had my proper lbm... I just hope I'm not losing the plot and about to spiral off into debt again.
    Wish me luck folks!

Happy Hen DO honey hope you have a really super day with your friends you deserve it.:A:A

Dont worry about OH, sounds like he just needs a good sleep.

Im sure you are not losing the MSE plot, you have done well to save given all the difficult circumstances you have dealt with.

So relax, chill and look forward to the big day in 20 days, it seems to have come round so quickly :j:j

  • Ugh.
I have the hangover from hell, and it's gotten worse as the day has gone on.
But it was worth every minute - I had a fantastic night, brilliant friends.
That's all for now. Normal service shall resume tomorrow._pale_

  • Well, more out of necessity than choice I had two nsds yesterday and Sunday. Thank goodness because I'm absolutely skint and it's still a good couple of weeks until I get paid (on my wedding day!!!!).
Today won't be a nsd as I need to put petrol in the car, but it will be a low spend, I hope. I'm off to catch up with a friend I haven't seen in a while so that should be nice.
I'm starting to feel a bit more mse again, although there are still expenses coming up that I can't avoid (wedding related), I'm not wanting to spend the way I have been the past few weeks.

  • Morning to all that post and lurk on here....
I apologise in advance, but this is going to be a bit of a whingey post from me. I'm ill and I feel quite poo today. I have the conjunctivitis, but I also have a throat infection which is making me feel quite poorly as well. And I wish I could be bothered to do more instead of sitting here feeling like I'm wasting my time off work - I lost a week last week with my son being ill, and I've lost most of this week with my being ill.
OH also has the conjunctivitis (but obviously it's much worse for him being a man) and dd is the only person who has gotten away with it so far. I hope she gets away with it... Wedding 2 weeks today!!!!!
A quick question for those that don't know me or OH. He's currently using my car to drive a 15 mile round trip to work. I've asked him to give me £20 a week petrol - is that unreasonable? He thinks it's too much (delusional). We have separate accounts because I didn't want him involved in my financial mess when I started my dmp, but he seems to think his £700 a month includes the full use of the car when it barely covers the running of the household. I hate having to ask him for money, but I'm still owed over £50 for his stag do... I wish I'd left him to organise it himself.
Wedding stuff mostly sorted. All that needs paying for is suits (£104), cake £175, flowers £146 and hotel £238 (!). Thank goodness because the fund is almost depleted.
Can you believe I'm ranting like this about my OH and we're getting married in 2 short weeks? I know I'm being a bit irrational because I'm feeling really off, and he's feeling the same.
Picked my dress up yesterday - I'm a stone and a half lighter but I thought I looked huge, and I left the shop quite upset. Again I'm just hoping that it's because I'm ill and I'm not as fat as I looked.
Sorry... just needed to get it out and it would only cause an argument at home at the moment.
    Thanks for reading.

  • Hi Wannabe - don't know how I've not stumbled upon your diary before!

Can't believe the *big day* is almost here!

Re the car ...... it depends on how many mpg your car does?

I'm a 15 mile round trip too - it costs me around £2 / trip (depending on what the price is at!) - but that's obviously just fuel & not running costs so I guess it depends on whether you're going to incl these too?
