Hey PAP - just wondering, why are you putting down £400 a month for rent, would it really be that much? Just i've been living in Central London / Zone 2 for the past 6 years and i've never paid more than £380 even here. Is this for sharing? Am sure it could be brought down a bit, especially if it gives you the means to escape. Will shh now and let everyone else worldly give advice x

The reasoning for Pap not moving out was that she could find herself in a trap. Paying out all her money on rent etc would leave her with very little spare income. At the moment she has saving power, so can fulfil some of her ambitions with regard to her career. If she moved out, it is very unlikely she could do this. She will probably also want to buy some new clothes and maybe a car.

Pap, your feelings about 'growing up'... not knowing what to do, feeling lost and like there's a huge responsability on you... are exactly what I've been feeling, you're definitely not the only one! I've come to realise that you can only take things one stage at a time and try not to worry about the 'whole of my life' stuff too much. Its good to have goals and ambitions but the decisions you make now don't have to govern you for life, people are constantly changing themselves and their skills, often starting completely new careers well into their working life.

You seem to know what your plan is for the next few years and you can't possibly predict how you'll feel after those years have passed. I think the legal secretary thing looks really promising... it could give you a better paid job that you enjoy and more confidence and self-respect for having achieved it! :T

I've got my near future sorted with my summer's work contract in america and have registered for a part-time ou course starting when I get back but what else I'm going to do (for money, amongst other things!) I have no idea! It scares me to think about it but I'm trying to take my own advice ;) and trust that I'll know what's right when the time comes.

    Take care x

Oh, and the quote in my sig is kind of about that too... there are so many possibilities that's we're in control of - all we have to do is figure out what we want!! Easier said than done I know  but I like it :)

bobbadog, that £400 is for a one bed tiny flat, if i share it will be cheaper but i dont really want to share... also that is the cheapest flat here and thats in a not so go area too... but i feel in a few years time i will be able to have a flat, not just now as i need to find better work/higher paid work. And all what tes says there ^ ~ thanks tes :A

kath ~ glad i am not alone... i hate this growing up stuff  and i do agree i can change my path in life easily, its just your first decisions are always the hardest... you have a great oppertunity with working away in the summer, grab it with both hands.. and dont worry about money something will come along... i think i jst have to stop worrying and get on with life doing what i want to do not others  oh and i like your quote, i am going to nab it if thats ok :o (not for my sig but to make into a little note)

My suggestion, make that note and stick it to something you look at every morning!....

ZTD and me have had some lovely chats over a PM and a cuppa, and I've, liked you, struggled with growing up, taking responsibility and self confidence issues (to name but a few), and my little mantra that came out of it was

    I am good
    (and again, with feeling)

    - That last bit was from ZTD, and someone has written it earlier too, its sometimes faking confidence that sees us through, and with each little step we then become more confident.

I've got that stuck to my computer hard drive, and I catch it in my eye sometimes, and even just reading it gives me a boost.
It'll sound corny and cheesy to those people who already think theyve got all the answers and know exactly how life is going to treat them (normally very well!), but like you've said, you dont know whats going to happen, and in some ways, thats the fun part of life, nothing is set in stone if you don't want it to be...

And thats a powerful lesson for anyone I think...
Something else which I've noticed, your motivation and determination is bloody catching on this thread. I wanna change my world now too!!!!

    Big hugs and love xx

    It is catching, and inspiring!!

I like that idea... I often find inspiring quotes or whatever but I don't make a note of them and they disappear... might stick on or two on post-its in prominent places! :D

Someone told me this one a few years ago... it kinda suits me as it reminds me to give something a go and not to automatically be negative about it.
