Im still looking at your figures by the way to see if anything leaps out at me.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

By the way, have you thought of asking for a pay rise? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

And youre definitely not thick!!
Remember, we all saw your GCSE results. A thick person could not achieve that in a million years.

No, life is not a bed of roses but you need to start living it sometime soon. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Right, you need to go to college next year but thats for your Maths GCSE so will that help you to get another job or will you need to go on another course to achieve that? Therefore would you would need to live at home to achieve that? Would you be happy to stay at home for all the time you are studying? I think you need to ask yourself that question. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I'm gonna use the old get out clause of "noone can tell you what to do". You've literally got to find it for yourself. No help I know!
Personally...........
I think these are important for you as a person, mentally, physically and emotionally:
Getting your Maths GCSE
Moving out of your mum's
Passing your driving test
Passing the test doesnt mean you've got to commit to buying a car just yet but half of its done.
Have you thought about doing the GCSE from home, so you can still work full time? I found a site that said 4 hours study per week means you'll have done it in 6 months. Just a thought. I'm sure you've probably looked into these things and going to college is in some ways better, i.e social interaction but just in case.i have been reading things on other forums about leaving the family home... and it doesnt seem like the bed of roses it seemed to be
Is staying in the family home a bed of roses though?!
As ZTD said every rose has its thorns, but if you grab it in the right place you won't get hurt
I'll admit I wish I had gone through as much financial planning relating to costs as you have. When I moved out I was earning sub 11k, so it is do-able. It just takes a lot of care, consideration and patience.and guess what i cant get a better job because i am thick and can olny do shop work!!
I only do shop work!:D
It does not make you thick! Nor are you thick that the only job you can get is in retail!
I had so many months of thinking I was worthless because I only worked in a shop, and to me it didnt seem like hard work, but after I accepted the fact that I dont know what I want to do overall in life, that I would stick at what I obviously could do, with what appears to be minimal effort on my part
I'm not saying I dont work hard, and some days are difficult but now after all that soul searching, I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm still in retail and I'm pretty good at it, it might not be my destiny  but it's treating me ok till I find that answer.
So now I'm on 17.5k which isnt masses but thats within 3 years. So that I'm pretty happy with.;)i just dont know the answers anymore why do people have to make life changing decisions all the time its not fair...
Trust me hun, I think this is what they meant when they say "growing up!"
Noone ever tells you life would be this hard!:rotfl:Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Because the car and savings are not so important if you are unhappy with your situation. The education is, because its what will get you out of the rut you are in. But can you bear to stay at home while you achieve your qualifications or can you manage to do them some other way while you're renting a flat? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

It is a bed of roses - but every rose has it's thorn.
What do you think is going to be the downside to it?
ztd ~ the big one no money, i know i dont spend a lot but i like to have a cushion just in case, i think i will move out and then have nothing and then the debt will start again and i dont want to live in debt for my life... also there are perks at home... i.e lifts home, lunch box made etc etc
tes ~ i understand that no one can make the choices for me but but its hard, ultimatly you are deciding your path for life, for the next 40 years... now thats tough, we have only just had a pay rise as a store, we used to get £5.59 an hour, i doubt i would get anything... unless i ask to be made cook but i dont want that. no not thick but i do feel that way somethimes because of the job i am in... i am over qualified for that job (and i am not being big headed about this) i have more qualifiactions than my line manager but sometimes when you are in a job like that you just slip into the role, i guess thats what i have done for the last few years... the easy option. yes i do have to start living but if that causes me financial stress and maybe debt is that the right way to go... i dont live at present, i have no friends (except work colleuges) and i work then come home work then come home... its a cycle only i can break but how and more importantly why0 -
Having said that, the savings are important because you do need to get some money behind you. So I take that back. But i will say that you don't really need to make a decision now because you cant afford to move out at present and you havent got the money for a car. Give yourself a break from life changing decisions. Do your Maths GCSE and take your driving test, and thats the only way forward right now. Save up and have a long hard think about your future. You can enjoy your course and watch your savings grow. Maybe give it a year while you do your GCSE and then assess your situation once you have your result. Now is not the time to make that decision. If you do you might do something rash like taking out a car loan then you will regret it later. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I also think you should start going out a bit more now that you are debtfree. Join a club or something, go to the gym  or go out for walks. You said you had one friend, why dont you go to the cinema or something. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
