Supernoodles all the time would make it a very short life!! Hmm... think it's time for full-time college or a better job babes. Student accomodation will be a fair bit cheaper!

emmzi i would love to go to uni but these are my problems with this... i have missed the deadline (although i could do this next year) have no idea how to apply and techniacally it will put me back into debt... i think a new job is the way to go (then i could still move out) but most people ask for X amount of years experiance hence why i am still in retail

    pap,

you aren't too late. And you can apply through clearing.

    http://www.ucas.co.uk/getting/deadlines/index.html

Student debt is cheap, and non-repayable until earnings are 15k.

I think a change of scene would be good for you :)

However... if it isn't the right time for you for other reasons, that's different!

hi all me again wave2.gif just sat here playing with figures really... now i wondered if before i move out i should have 3 months worth of basic salary (£750.00) in my back account as a back up? (opinions on this) so i started playing with figures... now my moving out fund needs to really be £1800.00 so here goes...

    saving at £300 per month
    ~ 6 months (oct 07) till £1800.00
~ 14 months (june 08) till moving out fund and salary

    saving at £350 per month
    ~ 5 months (sep 07) till £1800.00
~ 12 months (may 08) till moving out fund and salary

but then i had a look at my basic salary (never done this before as i always do overtime) and looked at living on just that and i had a shock... if i do no overtime each month my take home is ~ £886.40 but with ni/tax/pension taken out (using last months examples) its only approx £712.59  i am working for pennies  but i ran a moak soa on my basic and i dont think it can be done.... have a look all bills are approx (which is scary too) as i dont know how much it will cost till i 'do it'. Now this soa doesnt include driving lessons as i think i will pass before i move out but if it didnt thats another £120.00 per month :o ~ what do you lot think  i think its rather scary if work stop overtime... or they end up making me redundant next year (this is in the pipe line)...

    £400 Rent
    £40 Gas/electric
£40 Phone/broadband ( you dont need this to be that high, bt landline is 11pcm and loads of broadbands around tenner a motnh) £12 TV licence
£15 Contents insurance ( this is a guesstimte I know but 15 would really be the top youd pay, we pay 8.25)
£90 Council tax and water ( you could try & find somewhere with these included?)
    £50 Bus fare
    £18 Xmas savings
    £6 Charity

    Total = £671.00

Remainder for food/day to day stuff ~ £41.59

In any case PAP on your income you would be entitled to housing benefit, council tax benefit and probably some sort of working tax allowance- whats your salary- my OH is on slightly more than you from what I can tell hes on 13000 and is entitled to 23.00 per week top up from tax credits. ( it came out as more on entitled to this is what the inland rev have told him now)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

lynz... £8,167.43... last time i looked ... but if you work it out £886.40 * 12 ~ £10,636.80 this is because of the last pay increase... not good is it for 456 working hours... benifits wont be very much though surely... i mean i am still likely to have less than £100 to live on each month thats not including holidays/birthdays/going out/new clothes...

i worked it out earlier in this thread with my overtime money too... i never looked at it with just my basic salary... maybe i should have and then i wouldnt be having second thoughts

As long as you are deferring for the right reasons :D

Staying at home and saving for college for a year, while you work out what to do, sounds like a good reason.

As does being somewhere familiar while you start a new job somewhere with a management training scheme..

Just be sure what you are doing will work for you!

I can see where you're coming from Pap and I also think its a good idea if you save as much money as possible. Maybe you should go to college. However, what are you going to do if life at home becomes unbearable? It might be a good idea to have a contingency plan. There are benefits to claim if you are forced to move out and the possibility of a better paid job. Its a difficult situation and I feel for you. If you were an unmarried mother who had never worked you would have everything given to you, flat, benefits, furniture etc but because you are hard working and you try to pay your way in life then its difficult to get any help at all. I dont know what the answer is but I dont think youshould give up your dream completely. Put it on hold for a while and save up your money and hope that something turns up.

It is a bed of roses - but every rose has it's thorn.

I am having a think about it Pap, but I think youre right, there's no easy solution. However, I think at present you shouldnt make any hasty decisions because this really has to be thought through properly. Ultimately it is your decision what you really want but you still need time to decide what you really want out of life. We cant decide for you because deep down only you knows what you want the most. However, we are here to help you make decisions and to advise if possible.
