I think nowadays you can actually pay the postage on ebay but youd have to go to the PO anyway for proof of postage. A character reference is a reference from someone who knows you and can vouch for your character. It is preferable for this person to be a professional person or a business person or it could just be someone with a responsible job I think.

If you can't get anyone better, pm me at the time and I'll do one for you, although I'm only a clerk in a school. Might be better if you ask your manager.

A character reference can sometimes even be just someone who has known you for a long time - a friend of the family etc, or a work colleague if your boss is hopeless. Maybe one of us could do it lol!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's not something that will prevent you from being able to move out.

    pap,

very occassionally they might take a bank reference instead. Basically to say you get such and such paid regulalry per month and your acount in maintained in good order ie no irregular borrowing.

You need to authorise your bank to give it, and they'll charge you a wee fee (twenty quid or so).

Alternatively a copy of your contract, evidence of savings and last 3 bank statemewnts are also common, together with employers reference stating you are of good character and not known to come in hungover after riotous partying!
