I worked really hard last year to lose 2 stone in weight.

This week I am feeling sorry for myself and have eaten the produce of an entire chocolate producing country to make myself feel better.

Did I feel better? No, of course not, but it did remind me just how I lived pre-diet and I now feel more determined than ever not to get back there again.

So your c/c splurge is the same as my chocolate splurge - just goes to show that we are human xx

This is a good example and strikes a chord in me as someone else who has lost 2 stone and then sat here today and eaten a whole packet of biscuits.

Future lifetime habits take time to develop and hold on to. There will be times when lifes stresses make you slip back (in my case warring office factions). The thing to do is learn from them.

clara... i dont know really... because i dont know i was doing so well... i think tbh its beacuse i was giving myself so little (£40 a month) for the nice things as i wanted to save and learn to drive that i just got fed up and everything got on top of me and now its spent :o i think i will do as you suggested and put some money in a piggy bank for my 'bad days' usually its food/choc but since i have got a job and am losing weight it was money... i had another bad day again today and just as i was going to spend more money i logged on here... then reading all the posts shook me out of it... whats done is done... i will just have to hop on (the waggon) and start again... at least its not much... and once i start saving again i am going to save less... i think i was pushing myself too far with nearly 50% of my wage... after all i work hard for my money and i never seem to spend any of it

it's maybe not the stringent DFW route, but - could you maybe afford to pay it off over 8 months instead? calculate what the interest is and see if you are prepared to swallow it - because maybe for your peace of mind it would be better to cut yourself a bit more slack? Only money after all, and as long as it's going down and you have your target...
  • i just wanted to post to offer my support - i have no words of wisdom - being new to this myself - i also understand the eating thing that has been mentioned a few times. But what i do know is over undulgence whether food, money or whatever is HARD. If it wasn't, this thread wouldn't be here and neither would all of us. There are many highs but there are also lows but they will make the highs more worthwhile and will make us (me!) more determind - if it was easy very few of us would be here - look after yourself and don't be too hard - tomorrow is another day

well its 27.9%... not bad but not good... i dont know how long it will take me but a maximum i think i can pay off it is £200.00 as my general bills (plus xmas savings... plus driving) is £420.70 this doesnt include any tolietries and me money... my take home after pension/national insurance/tax is about £775.29... what do you think? but i also have to take into account that in april i may not pay anything (only about £50) as thats the month we go on holiday :o
  • It's not your fault! You're a woman. It's in your genetic makeup not to listen! :)

  • I have read a lot of your posts and you always seem willing to give advice and not judge - I thought (and still do) that we are all part of a "family" on here - all with different levels of debt/savings - just like our own family members have their own gliches. We don't give up on our families, so on here, we don't give up on each other - there is always support - your user name speaks for itself IYKWIM. You're a big part of this family so you can't leave us now - if we all did that when we slipped up who the hell would be on this forum:rotfl:

So, to get to the point :T well one for posting and extra well done for cutting up your card. Your help is invaluable to others so, "please - don't go away cos you're the best ..........won't post the rest as its not relevant" (sorry, lyrics to a Weller song - couldn't help myself  )

We need you and you need us - problem solved - easypeasy

Honestly? I think you would be better to cut yourself some slack and set yourself achievable goals rather than charging headlong into it and making yourself miserable. Progress is progress! If you have a little slack to take with you on holiday it would mean you could leave the CC behind and avoid the temptation of having it with you - probably save money in the long run!

When you come back - see how you feel - the holiday might give you the high you need to really hit it hard and pay it off for summer?
