Thanks for sharing that with us. You have reminded me of myself and that's always a good thing. I was trying to justify to my partner using my freemans catalogue again to get an 'essential ' bit of kitchen equipment - just wanted to spend some money 'cause I was feeling down! He wasn't very impressed, and then today I read your post plus all the comments and, well as I said, just reminds me of me.. another human ..sigh..0

yep we are all human, i have learnt that, but i have also now learnt that a 'treat' to a degree is better than going without throuugh serviceing your debt, once i am back from my holiday i will budget into my monthly money a 'me' fund where i can buy myself something without thinking i am wasting cash. I think we should all do this, even if its only £5 a week but that £5 can do the world of good0 -
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You go girl!!!
All sounds super duper and I'm so happy for you that you're making in roads not only till the debt but also to yourself personally!!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hi PAP, CAFCgirl, Tes and the many other regulars on this thread,
I have just read from start to finish this thread (omg just looked at the time its taken an hour!)
Posting - i can't belive how you put up with the stuff that people seem to say/do to you. WELL DONE for your recent tougher attitude with your mum and brother. They need to learn to look after themselves and not to continually use and bully you.
You said a while ago that you consider yourself to have no friends - well that is NOT TRUE. Every single poster on here has been nothing but supportive - just as you are to them on other threads. You do deserve to be happy - when you truley belive that life will suddenly become much easier.
I note you have mentioned a barclayard lately which your brother has been using. My advice is to cut it up right now. RIGHT NOW. Same goes for changing your PIN on other cards. If you take sole control of your finances and stop letting other people run up debts in your name then i think the pressure on you will ease itself greatly. Imagine if you knew for sure that the ONLY increase to your balance would be down to your (very controlled) spending? I think that would give your confidence a great (well-needed) boost but only you can make it happen. Cut up those cards today and stop letting your bullying mum and brother take advantage.
Good luck, i will keep reading this thread.0 -
I'm so glad to hear that things are changing in the Posting household! Great news that your Mum is obviously respecting you over money and great that you've got the rent safe. Let's see if you've worked the same magic on your bro. Have a brilliant holiday, you deserve it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Well done pap, the hard line with your mum and brother is obviously getting through!! A few white lies here and there are entirely justified if it helps them realise you won't be taken advantage of! :T

thansk kathfisch i am trying and yes i am lying but if its the only way to get through then i dont see a problem with it... i have just got in from working and my brother has handed me £15 :T and he promises the £20 next friday, i just hope he hasnt 'lent' it from mum because i will only be 'lending' it back out to her  but if he know i mean business then i will get my cash back and i wont give it back to mum it will be her mess if she is now short
elantan thansk, i have totally changed now, since i have been keeping my card on me i have written down all my transactions that i have completed on my cards and if i see anything 'dodgy' then i will know if someone has 'borrowed my card'. I know i shouldnt have to lve like this but if i dont do something now i could be living like this till i am 40... i need a life just like my brother is having one and my mum has had one
someone walked out of work today, now thats great for me as i get asked to do all her hours :T and because i am full time its time and a half (nearly £9) an hour, and i have aggreed, so my holiday wont start till next sunday now but i am not too botheredi am just thinking of the extra cash that i can put towards my debt
anyways another great day here and i really do need to get to the bank next weds now
have a lovely easter all of you reading/helping me in my financial struggles0 -
sounds to me like youve deff got your head screwed on ....and i totally agree with what your doing re card ...nice one on the job front aswell0

not happy with my bank today  i have had a letter today from them and you can never guess, they only want to increase my overdraft buy £500.00  now on both acounts i have £50.00 on each so if i miss a bill/calcualte wrong i have in effect £100.00 to juggle with but i hardly ever use it and if i do its only the odd £1 so why they want to do this i have no idea  anyways you can refuse it and also refuse any more increases unless you ask, so that will be sent off tuesday :rotfl: i am just really annoyed as they can see i dont use it anyway so why would i want £500.00 extra
hope you are all having a great relaxing weekend0
