If you have lump sum you lock it into a bond at a fixed rate for a year or two years. There's no withdrawls from them.
Or if you don't have a lump, regular saver is your best bet
There's this one: http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/fixedwebsaver.asp

Think ur 'forgotten money' account is a great idea too, I might have to borrow that one whe I'm debt free.
Well done on all ur progress :T

gem ~ thanks, however i need most of it before a year (ie may) so i think the ones that require £500 deposit will not be practical. So i guess halifax is the best way to go ~ dont know how much to deposit though?
dragon ~ thanks hun, it has been a long slog and without the support of many on here i would never be where i am now. Saying that though i have enjoyed the challange and balancing the budgets, love it
sarah ~ the vendor challange :rotfl: i had to do something it was getting to the stage that all my weekly spends were being fed into the machine, this must stop! Its stupid really because a packet of crisps in there is 40p and 140 cal however if i bulk buy they work out at 7p and 69cal. Dont get me wrong i still crave stuff in the machines but i must stop using them.
Yes i love that idea too, it came to me the other day but i never knew if there were accounts like that around. I just want a pot that i can pay into and check every 2~4months and just forgot whats in there. At the momment i am looking online/shopping and i am thinking oh i want one of those, i know i shall buy it and take the cash from my savings :wall: i havent given in yet but i want some 'savings' that are long term and i cant get at full stop. I think this shall be the best... i just need to work out what i can/shall put into it monthly? then i need to open it.
oh also my mums oh wants to book this holidaymainly because the hotel we all want now only has one single room left and at this rate i shall have to spend an extra £200 for a double room for me
i am torn with this one... and its driving me mad :rotfl: however another positive ish thing about it is my mums oh and my mums xmas gift could be £50 each payed of the holiday from me  anyway any ideas/opinions on this gladfully recived
mums oh is going to give me cash each month either way, either to save/pay off the holiday so i know for a fact he will pay

How much difference is £40 less to your savings for x number of months going to make? Will you still hit your target? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Definately go for it PAP, you deserve it, and ur disciplined enough to make sure its paid off....
If its 0% on ur card, are u planning to pay it off @£40 per month, or are you gonna put £40 per month into savings and pay it off at the end? (I'm sure u've already said, but my memory is mush!:o )
