  • right i suppose i should come clean then maybe you can all help me decide better? i want to buy my first double bed, yes at the age of 21...... runs and hides ready to be flamed.

dragon ~ i have been thinking of buying this bed since i moved into the bigger room (i used to have a box room and a bunk bed). When i was moved into this room my first bulk of debt was on new furniture/wall paper for this room, and i love it its as i have wanted all my life (my parents have alwasy been in debt so i have always had missmatched wallpaper). Anyway everything was replaced (with the cheapest stuff) inc my single bed to a lush shaker bed. I then replaced the mattress one payday and its lasted me the bed 3 years+ and the mattress just over a year and still going so will sell it on hopefully. I have never had a double bed because of one thing/another so thats that.

Most of its peer pressure and its been going on for just over a year (since i started in my new department) and to be honest i am sick of it. I decided a few weeks ago that i can really afford a car but can i afford a new bed? it was between the two?

I started a new thread ages ago and asked everyones opnions then http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=514087, then using that i then devised a soa (another one) and decided to apply... i didnt think i would be accepted if i am perfectly honest (only just debt free a few months ago) but i was then i sent off the signed forms (didnt know my credit limit till the card arrived today). And i must admit everyday i have been wishing the card would turn up so i can order it

However now i have the card, i am rethinking it and i just dont know the answer... it can be done but i dont know if i should get back into 'debt' to have luxaurys like a bed then go abroad twice next year when all of you are struggling just to make ends meet

sorry for making this depressing and a bigger deal than it should be only to me its huge which shows what a great/sucessfull/adventureous life i have :rotfl:

Debt free twice is VERY successful, and as CAFCGirl says, u deserve to start living ur life...... go get ur bed girl, u deserve it

Personally PAP I think you should go for it - you have got debt free, you know how to cope with credit and you deserve a few nice things for all your hard work! That can be a nice comfortable bed or vacations - provided you know you need to save and pay back then that is the main thing

Whilst the card is still on the 0% could you pay £20.00 off and save £20.00? Going up to £40.00 after the 6 months?

I agree with CAFCgirl, you're covered, you want it, do it. I'm not sure if you read (or if I even said actually :rotfl:) I've just spent £200-odd on my bedroom making it more grown up (re-paint, new carpet, new door etc.) and I felt guilty for a long time because of the mess my parents are in.

But it's your money, you go out and earn it, you deserve to spend it on you. You're not getting into debt, you're not being frivolous, you're just spending a bit of your hard earning money on something you want! You have to find a balance between spending and saving or you'll make yourself miserable hun.

  • I say go for it too, it's a bit of an investment too really as you can obviously take it with you when you do move out :) Trust me that first night's sleep will make it worth it, spaaaace!

dragon ~ the 0% deal lasts 6 months the bed is £269.00. You can have as many 0% deals on the card as you like a one time however its per purchase over £199.00. So if i oder soon (ie this week) the 0% will start september and end march 08. The typical intrest rate is 27.9% so no way do i want balances sat on there.

I really dont know why i have made this a big thing  its not like i havent got enough to clear the balance in my savings if worst comes to the worst

Anyways i will have to buy 'something' now as i have no bed the other is for sale on ebay :rotfl: as of wednesday :rotfl:
