How much difference is £40 less to your savings for x number of months going to make? Will you still hit your target?
Right without the extra £40 in savings will mean i save ~
£229.00 (holidays/ou course) till aug 08 ~ 11 months = £2,519.00 + £514.00 in sig = £3,033.00 need £3,545.00 however the course £2145.00 will get funding
With the extra £40 instead of buying the furniture ~
£269.00 till aug 08 ~ 11 months = £2,959.00 = £514.00 in sig = £3,473.00 need £3,545.00 however the course £2145.00 will get fundingSarahNeedle1872 wrote: »Definately go for it PAP, you deserve it, and ur disciplined enough to make sure its paid off....
If its 0% on ur card, are u planning to pay it off @£40 per month, or are you gonna put £40 per month into savings and pay it off at the end? (I'm sure u've already said, but my memory is mush!:o )
Sarah x
Right i was planning and have budgeted to pay £40 per month through didect debit for 6 months (the 0% deal lifespan) = £240.00 the item is £269.00 means £29.00 will be needed to pay extra but that shall be done out of my monthly spends... however knowing me i will prob pay more each month from my me spends anyway
to get it paid off quicker

If you need £3545 then you can't afford to not have that £40 but if it's less then you can. Plus as you said you plan to put in extra.
0% offers don't come along every day, you applied, so you wanted it, so go for it!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Dont quite understand this
bascially the difference to my savings will be £440.00 however this isnt true as its half this as once the deal ends jan/feb this £40 will be included. Also if i dont budget it in my soa as a bill then i shall just take it from my monthly spends. But as i have added to sarahs comment if i dont spend all my monthly spends each month that shall be chucked onto this too

Sorry PAP I think you are the only one that can make this decision! As stated you did apply for this so you must have thought it was worth it at the time - or was it an impulse application?Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Even better that you plan to sell the old one (do we know what it is yet!?!) as u can put the money towards the new one.... you should definately go for it....
You have the 0% to take advantage of, and imagine if u didn't get it, then a few months down the line, or when the offer's run out, you REALLY decide u want one... That's just my opinion

right i suppose i should come clean then maybe you can all help me decide better? i want to buy my first double bed, yes at the age of 21...... runs and hides ready to be flamed.The_Dragon wrote: »Sorry PAP I think you are the only one that can make this decision! dragon ~ i have been thinking of buying this bed since i moved into the bigger room (i used to have a box room and a bunk bed). When i was moved into this room my first bulk of debt was on new furniture/wall paper for this room, and i love it its as i have wanted all my life (my parents have alwasy been in debt so i have always had missmatched wallpaper). Anyway everything was replaced (with the cheapest stuff) inc my single bed to a lush shaker bed. I then replaced the mattress one payday and its lasted me the bed 3 years+ and the mattress just over a year and still going so will sell it on hopefully. I have never had a double bed because of one thing/another so thats that.
Most of its peer pressure and its been going on for just over a year (since i started in my new department) and to be honest i am sick of it. I decided a few weeks ago that i can really afford a car but can i afford a new bed? it was between the two?
I started a new thread ages ago and asked everyones opnions then http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=514087, then using that i then devised a soa (another one) and decided to apply... i didnt think i would be accepted if i am perfectly honest (only just debt free a few months ago) but i was then i sent off the signed forms (didnt know my credit limit till the card arrived today). And i must admit everyday i have been wishing the card would turn up so i can order it
However now i have the card, i am rethinking it and i just dont know the answer... it can be done but i dont know if i should get back into 'debt' to have luxaurys like a bed then go abroad twice next year when all of you are struggling just to make ends meet
sorry for making this depressing and a bigger deal than it should be only to me its huge which shows what a great/sucessfull/adventureous life i have :rotfl:0 -
Whats the worst case scenario, that could occur?
And how would you cope if that should happen?
I think that will tell you whether or not you should or shouldnt? I dont think it's even about what the item is to be honest...
In my humble opinion I think you deserve to start living, whether it be buying a bed, an OU course, moving house, buying a car and you're a careful planned person, so I'm sure you'll have all eventualities covered in your head.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
By the way PAP, did you know you can use Tesco Clubcard deals tokens to pay or part pay for OU courses

Whats the worst case scenario, that could occur? I lose my job/die/be critiaclly ill ~ in no way will my outgoings ever outwiegh my incomings
And how would you cope if that should happen? use my savings to pay it off and scrap the holiday/s and chuck everything at it to repay

I thionk it boils down to confidence/confidence making decisions and sticking by them. everything in that last paragraph requires that and commitment and i dont know maybe i am scared of that
to be honest i dont know why i can and i dont know why i am postinga trivial thing on a forum where people have tryed to take thier lives. But somewhere growing up i have sorta decided not to take risks/live so now i am like an old woman worrying myself ultimately to the grave... i am so stupid/silly  0
