Thanks posting,
I dont mind at all you looking back. Youre welcome. The only reason I dont say too much at the moment is because I would probably get told off for doing up the house while still in debt but I think its ok as I have a 3 year debt repayment plan which I am going to stick to. However other people might think that if I can pay it off sooner then I should. If I did that though it would be about 15 months at least before we were debtfree and then we would have to save up to do the house and the waiting is SO unbearable. The house is still how the old lady had it and she was 91 when she died and it makes me feel old and depressed living here because there are handles for helping her up and down the stairs and in and out of the bath and everything is really designed for an OAP and we came from a lovely modern house with cutting edge design. The only thing was that scary things were happening in the area so we sold it and this area is really nice. Im not really feeling sorry for myself. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Hi posting
Its me again I'm afraid. I just had a look at that Sainsbury's account to see what it said about the 0% and there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that they are advertising the 0% along with the 13. whatever it is interest rate so I think you will be getting the 0%.
The bad news is that the 0% is only for 5 months not 6 so unless its changed since the weekend its only 5. You could still pay it back over 6 months though. One month's interest at the end of that period when its nearly all paid off is not going to make a lot of difference to you I dont think. Anyway, just thought id let you know. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
If youre interested I have just summarised my story in the thread, cheer me up ive just been slated. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

right i am getting worried... its pay day thursday and £25 direct debit set up will be going to barclays credit card (the original one) on the 20th ~ this was set up before posting this thread... but nothing has come back from sainsburys... what if they have taken all the balance off the card
what if barclays still take the money?
will that put the card in credit?
i cant really lose £25 to barclays the £80/90 to sainsburys in feb/march... I could cancel the direct debit this end and then pay them min payment when the statement arives but i dont know what to do... help... stressed out pap

Hi Pap! Don't stress hun, it'll all get sorted! If I were you I would cancel the direct debit to barclays, and phone them to let them know so that they don't think there's a problem or charge you anything - not sure if credit cards do thisBarclays will also be able to tell you whether the balance has bee paid off yet. A quick call to sainsburys should hopefully confirm whether they have sent the money yet, I know sometimes these processes can be quite slow, particularly if they have lots of new customers due to a good offer.
Worth bearing in mind that if no money has been paid by sainsburys yet and you do make the minimum payment to barclays, your balance will be different from that which you told sainsburys. There might be interest added on too, so once you have a final figure make sure sainsburys have it!! If they pay too much though it doesn't matter, I believe you can get any positive balance back from barclays, but it might take a while.
Hope its all sorted easily

thanks kath i think i am just worrying i just phoned barclay card (automted line) and the balance has gone down but thats it
i think i will leave it till after the 20th... if the money is credited to my account then i will just have to get them to send out a replacement card (so i can spend it) or they can send me a cheque... it better than worying that i will get charged by them through late payment etc etc... as long as i can get my money back if my barclay card goes into credit i should be fine
thanks for the quick response btw

That's a good idea about getting a replacement card and spending any positive credit, I didn't think of that! I'm sure they'll be quicker to send a card than process a refund
Hope it all works out ok!

Dont know if this maybe any help, but my daughter got a job as helper in the kitchen of a care home when she was 17, she applied for assistant but was considered too young - however a few months later another assistant job came up & she was offered it as they had seen how sensible she was. Anyway she now works in a different care home but same manager & is doing her NVQ3 in Care.
If you are looking for a different job & are currently doing part-time any way it might be something to consider if you hadnt thought of that type of work previously, a lot of care home dont insist in experience at least to start & it can be fairly easy to progress. It will also give you some idea if it really is the sort of work you want to do before you commit to a course
