Yes its looking good. Is that second lot of holiday saving your spending money? Think its a good idea about a late deal. I think its also a good idea about the building society save for the holiday but keep your money separate so that you know how much you each have saved towards the holiday. Dont worry about living up to your sister. Its your first car and you can always save for a better one when your career takes off. Besides I dont think you should care so much what others think. Stand up straight, look them in the eye, give them your killer smile and think 'Im fabulous'. (Got that from a book but I think its good advice.)The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

tes yes the second holiday savings will be my spends savings, it will then save the rush to get some spends together, i am not sure if £200 will be enough but i shall be a savvy holiday makerwell i have told mum thats what i intend to do she said well why dont you take over my account... you can guess what i said. I will open up a building society account and each time i place money in there (from me/mum) i will write along side it whos is whos... and i will also get mum to sign it so there is no disagreements. Well i was planing on getting a micra when i pass, however using my new soa i will not be able to afford it comfortably (well paying for the car anyway) and i am not getting into debt to buy a car
. Ohh i love that last sentance of advice... i shall ahve to do that and try not to crumble :rotfl:

Pap, I'm about 10 years older than you, and I still haven't a hope in hell of buying my dream car......well actually I haven't got a dream car, unless you count one that drives itself, cleans itself and costs £2 in petrol per month.....but you know what I mean.
Don't beat yourself up over it, first cars are supposed to be a bit [STRIKE]battered[/STRIKE] characterful!
I drive a 12 year old Micra and I never feel ashamed or embarrassed about it - I just feel proud that I don't owe anyone anything for the priviledge of driving it. (Just to clarify, the car loan in my sig is for Stu's car  )"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Thats great. Your mum seems to respect your decisions and you much more than she used to. I hope it works out. You will get everything you want this year and once youve got it all you can decide what you want to do next. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

FWIW, following my heart only ever got me more into debt - my heart wants me to indulge my every whim 'because I deserve it, Goddamit'... (and other such rubbish).
My head, however, never lets me down and has got/kept me out of all manner of trouble. I generally regret letting my heart be in charge - it's much better at picking which boys to kiss than it is at financial management↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face

Awwww Curv - looking at the cuteness of your avatar, you definitely picked the right boy to kiss!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Ur SOA looks great PAP, thats exactly what I mean about u being good at budgetting! The BS account idea is a good one, you work and plan so hard to make ur money go as far as it can, it would be awful if u ended up loosing it on the holiday - not saying this would happen, but better safe than sorry! Hopefully all the good work you are doing will start to rub off on ur Mum!
If ur looking for a car thats between £3-£9k, I'm sure u'll have that saved in no time!

thansk sarah, its funny really becuase i always like my money to work for me, the problem lies (that isnt the right spelling?) when the banks increase the intrest for loans/mortgages but doesnt pass this onto saversso now i make sure everything i do has the best price/cash back etc etc.
As for the bs account i think thats the only way, it may mean an extra walk to the branch but at least i know it will be there... mum agrees if she pays into it thats another matter but if all else fails we dont go :rotfl: which will suit me actually because now my best mate wants to go abroad in sep/oct 2008however i am planing on saving for that with all my cash back/points i get for xmas shopping... so on my next quidco pay out i am opening another jar with ING for that :T.
Regarding the car... i prob will get a runaround first but i will before i am 28 have one of my fave three... i so hope this site is still running then so i can post my good news :rotfl:
Right a tiny update from me... i have set up a direct debit for all teh ING savings = £203.00 per month, however i can only transfer into my main jar so once they are cleared in there i will shuffle themI have also transfered all the remainder of my savings left in my current account into there too £470.00... this is split into £144 xmas and £326 car
i feel this has been a very productive day :T0 -
PAP - I just wanted to say hi. I'm pretty new to this forum and after reading a posting on a separate thread, I decided to read through this one. I just wanted to say congratulations on everything you have achieved over the last 2/7 months. You sound like a much stronger and confident woman.:T
Oh, and I don't want to hijack your thread but I just wanted to give a suggestion to tesuhoha if you don't mind. T-mobile do a U-fix contract. Basically you pay so much per month e.g. £15 and that gives you so many minutes included. If you want to use more minutes than that, then you top-up in the same was as you would with a PAYG.
1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -
