Something has to give and personally I think its the holiday. That doesnt mean you can't go on holiday. It means you have to save for it first.

Pap, I know you want to do so much but the important thing here is to stay calm and think logically, then you can have as much as possible.

    1) College - this is already paid for
    2) Car - Keep saving a regular amount and you will get there eventually.
    3) Driving test - you must see this one through if you want the car.
    4) Furniture - you have already budgetted for this and it is something you want.
    4) Save what you can afford and then forget about it. Dont save money you think you will want to withdraw.
    5) Holiday - think - look at your options - do you really have to go to that one place or are there alternatives? Could your mother book it on her cc and then you could pay her back instead? Much better not to be the one who is owed the money. How about one of the cheap Sun holidays? Are they still available? I'm just frightened that you'll pay £200 and then they wont pay you back.
    6) Vow not to make any more promises to family involving money.
    7) Long term savings - perhaps just start off with £50 a month till you can afford more.

1~4 i agree with however still not 100% on the furniture, i guess i will have to review if once i recive my card...

5~ well there is a choice of 3, i heve chosen the cheapst. The problem is not many hotels that offer all inclusive offer single room and there is no way i am sharinga room with my mother and her oh. She hasnt got an credit card, the one she had i am stilll paying trough my bank (£100 rent) on her behalf. She wants to take me abroad so the sun holiday is out of the question... well techically the £200 is part of my payment for the holiday is £466 each so then i would only need to pay £266 before may. Then my mum and her oh are paying tehre parts however they have £200 worth of vouchers to redeem to.

6~ the problem is i am a walk over, my second name is door mat, even in work they know i will miss out to help everyone else, sadly is another faluire with me... one day

7~ i dont know what i am saving now though? i dont know what i want? yes a car in the short term and more towards my pension... i wanted to get to the 3* your wages this month... not now

Im finding this a bit hard to work out. If you get the furniture, will you take it off your spending money or your savings? If you take it off your spending money, will you be able to manage?

    Who's your current account with?

I had a similar problem and found savings 'jars' every useful. Even bills is a jar and then I made all my DD's the same date, and there's a SO from the bill jar to my current account for that same day.

Also, for spending, why not use an Egg Money card? It's got cash back and 4.22% APR when in credit, so if you don't spend then you get interest :)

natwest, i know it should work (i use account jars) but knowing i can transfer money in two clicks (internet banking) it doesnt work... at all i guess i need to go back to my savings jars in ing as i cant get at them... one thing i regret about this site, going over to the savings forum and transfering everything out of my ing account because they think its a bad rate :wall: then it snowballed and i am here now!!

gem i dont know about that card? is it a credit card? i dont really want another credit card as i am scared i will go on a spree like i did in january... i am even scared about getting this one for mu furniture :o

tess it will be made into a direct debt so it will be added to my bills account but the money will be taken from my spending money... that will leave me £113.22 spends minus £40 weekly spends = £73.22 :o

Just read the bit about the holiday. As its for your part of the holiday then its a different matter. But are you booking for the whole family? Its a bit dodgy in a way if you are as you will be liable for the whole cost of the holiday if they dont pay up. In principle its a nice idea. Can understand why youre in a quandary. It would be lovely for you to go on this holiday. What does everyone else think about it I wonder?

Well if you trust them then maybe you should book it and have your furniture too. Then you could start afresh with the savings you have left. It wouldnt matter as long as you werent in debt apart from the 0% card. Basically this is your decision based on what you want the most.

still dont know what to do? :rotfl:i guess i need to ask my mother if she is really going to pay for her part of the holiday? anyway i just checked and if you book with insurance throught the agent its £167 to book today, if you book without insuracne its £90... still doesnt make my mind up though however if i do this it will take my savings to £391.28 ~ £140.00 xmas and £251.28 savings

that i wouldnt mind too much however people are set on me having a car as soon as i pass... if i pass after sep pay that will make... £251.28 + £300.00 + £300.00 = £851.28 ~ £50 more than the market value of the car i would like is... i suppose i can wait until october :D
  • well i have decided one thing, i am putting all my savings back in ing and not completeing the esavings opening... so the £20 esavings on my soa will revert back into my xmas savings for ing :j
