UPDATE
They called me up this time it was a diferent named company from 0207 209 5789. - they never said they were from orange not at any point on this phone call nor the original one i made to them.
the free camera phone is subject to going on contract sounds like a good deal for about £12.50 if i heard correctly i cant remember how many mins text etc that you get.
I dont know if it is a scam certainly by how they obtain your telephone number surely this cannot be legal?
i think they are sending this message to pay as you go customers judging by what jonathan said earlier about topping up to try and get people onto contracts as this how companies make their money, certainly in phone shops they have targets and the lucrative ones, are contracts.
you may get a better deal on the high street wheere you can talk to them face to face and get what you want.
i recently made two mobile phone purchases the latter i got £10 free credit as the sales advisor failed to tell me about phones 4 you policy of charging £20 credit if you pay cash, or £10 credit if you pay by credit/debit card, they claimed it to be something to do with fraudsters and security but this is rubbish in my view as people wil just pay the £20 air time instead.
Anyway because they didn't tell me about that the manager overheard me talking to the advisor and she authorised £10 extra free air time on top of the other £10 compulsory air time credit. My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -
I just received the text and I am on an Orange contract, so it looks like it is not just isolated to Pay as you go customers!

Got this sort of text today. I've only had the contract for a few weeks and have not signed up to anything with my new number which begs the question - who gave them my number?0
