When I queried it, Orange said it was not them who were charging me so I retorted and asked how come it was on my Orange bill!
of course it's those idiots who are 'charging' you......thinking about it may be they are not charging you - they are just basically thieving money from your account.

Mobility: Content: A cut above

Jeremy Flynn, former head of commercial partnerships at Vodafone and now CEO of mobile video specialist D2see, says UK operators generally keep around 20% of revenue.............But for smaller content platform developers such as Mobiya, the revenue share model breaks down on average to 50/50. Based on the model of a premium SMS costing 1.50, Orange UK keeps 68 pence including VAT while Virgin Mobile keeps a whopping 98p

Providers of mobile services and marketers that require their services to run using shortcodes will need shortcodes to be allocated from short-codes.com. The allocation of a shortcode guarantees its exclusive use (subject to commercial agreements) across all UK MNOs and some virtual network operators (MVNOs).

I have also had the same problem for 3 months they have charged me £1.25 at least 4 times a month - sometimes more!! I called Orange and they said "due to data protection we are unable to tell you what this application is that you have subscribed for!" totally ridiculous - data protection act should protect the CONSUMER and actually allow us to access anything that is related to us! .. ANYWAY... I probed and basically discovered that it is actually Orange website itself that is doing this!!!!
If you visit the orange website on your mobile adverts may pop up or whatever you browse the pages and you can "accidentally" permanently subscribe to a weekly fee of £1.25!!!!! I was completely shocked.
I did not however argue with the "messenger" - but politely asked why and how and what... and the lovely lady on the phone gave me all the money back and blocked the applications charging me (after some probing and reminding her that they charged me not for 1 month but 3! - she seemed to keep "forgetting" to calculate several months). I am disgusted by this.
The Orange contract I have has caused me so many problems in the last 24 months I cant wait to cancel it and be rid of Orange forever at the end of my contract!!!!!! Back to O2/GiffGaff for me!
Hope this helps. Everyone should call 150 and complain! This is an outrage!!!
• On checking my mobile phone bill recently which is an LG smartphone on contract with Orange I became aware of charges to my phone over the last few months. On my bill no number was listed against these charges. The itimisation just shows a date time and a description of 'Application' and content type 'content' and of course a cost of £1.25. These costs appeared rougly one a week. I made my enquiries with Orange who informed me this charges were made by a company ukmobivillage. They gave me a contact number which is 0208 772 4859. Now as far as I was concerned I had not agreed to these charges and so rang the number. They state the charges were for horoscope updates that the phone number had been registered too. What a load of bull I told them and demanded they return and refund all charges. I have received an email stating they will - so I will await and see. This is a rip off they have obtained my number somehow and registered it withou my knowledge. This is how it works- They obtain your number and register it for their service. They charge Orange for the phone being registered to the service and Orange then charge you. Beware - check you mobile phone bills now. The number is a for a company in South Africa - This company is called Buongiorno and on their website they say " Buongiorno is known in the worldwide mobile commerce ecosystem for developing and managing paid apps and services that help consumers get greater enjoyment from mobile devices". They seem to just help themselves to peoples numbers and their money without authority. When i spoke with Orange they were not helpful and that call is recorded, they said it was not their responsibility. Surely they have a resposnibility to their customers to protect them and their data. Very much sloping shoulders from Orange. Be aware of any applications that have the details "B Games, IFortune, Playplanet, IGirls and Star Secrets" - these are linked to ukmobilevillage.
IF YOU HAVE HAD EXPERIENCES OF THIS COMPANY THEN PLEASE SHARE THEM WITH US WE HOPE TO TAKE SOME OF THESE COMPLAINTS TO ORANGE - FIGHTING BACK (THE PEOPLE INVESTIGATE)

Just been hit by this.. or rather, i've just noticed I've been hit!

Orange gave me the short code to stop the service and the contact details.

Will send a refund e-mail now.

Funnily enough i've not had any horoscopes either!

£17.50 in total by the looks of things.

I've just realised that Orange have been charging me £1.67+VAT every week for the last 6months. It appears on my bill as "image content". In total I am owed £50.10! It's been one of the those things to look into for the last couple of months as to why my direct debit is more than usual but not got round to!

So today I called Orange and they advised me to text STOP to 60113. They said it was a company called "mobivillage" and it has happened when I have used one of my apps on my iPhone. Something also to do with "ifortune"?!? As soon as I explained the charge, the adviser knew straight away what it was and what I had to do. It seemed like it was quite a comman problem and she seemed rather blase about it. She also gave me the phone number of 0208 772 4859 and told me to call them and that they should give me a refund.

I called the company which answered it "buongiorno". The adviser said he would stop any further charges. When I asked why this was happening and what this was for he was very brief and couldn't really claify it for me. I still don't really understand! He said I had subscribed to it via an app. I told him I hadn't and that I wanted my money back. He gave me an email address of ifortuneuk@buongiorno.com and said they dealt with payments.

I've emailed them this afternoon and am waiting for a reply.

I am so glad I investiaged this further and contacted Orange. Hopefully I will get a full refund from this company otherwise I will be contacting Orange again. I just think this is disgusting and surely they are not allowed to get away with this. I am so careful about what I download and I know I have not subscribed to anything from this company. I have since told other people about this scam and a few friends have said they have also been affected.

If you have any of the Android phones, this type of malware is very common, less common with iPhones and windows phones.
See the link below

Try to double check apps before installing them.

Surely you can't miss an opportunity to blame android even if the post is about iPhone.

One must be a paranoiac like you to search for 'malware android' if it is iPhone that is affected.

I've just logged onto my account to check my usage to ensure I don't go over my minutes as I'm nearing the end of the month. To my shock I have incurred over £20 of data charges.

I called Orange who said a fee of 83p every night since 3rd May has been incurred. They can't tell what it is (which is very frustrating) but recommended that I start by turning off my notifications for all my apps so I have done this. The Orange rep is going to call me back again on Thursday to confirm if this has made a difference.

I didn't download or install any new apps so I'm wondering if by updating an existing app I am now incurring a daily charge. How can this be legal?
