    Debt-free and Proud!
    morning all!

Haven't been saving/earning too much recently. I did save the delivery costs of a B00ts order (didn't ave instore the stuff mum wanted for her birthday) by making order up to £20 BUT I ordered some shampoo and razor blades for Hubby to make the order up to £20 AND if I'm honest, wouldn't have normally paid full price for them so swings n roundabouts really.

Must check my Mr S delivery from Monday and see if I saved any money on that...
  • Hi

I know I am a little late but can I join please. I think this will be the kick I need.

At the moment I have a balance on my credit card of £1800 so if I do the challenge I could have this paid.

I have started to sort out the house and all the stuff/ junk that is no longer needed has been put into the garage. OMG you cannot move in there now.

I am going to start to read this thread for some ideas as to were to start.

Take care everybody and have a good weekend

Hi april and Ian! And everyone else whom are doing so well : )

@hismissus; Would the free delivery cover the difference between the price you paid and the price you wanted to pay?

[I wrote the below out without realising that it's nonsense unless I state that I'm a third year student]
I had a bit of a lapse, had to pay for a friend's coffee (and tea for myself as she felt uncomfortable drinking by herself) as payment for borrowing her notes and getting her to explain the lecture I had missed. There was a fault in the online system and didn't not appear on the time table, so I thought that there must have been a typo on the module outline. But to be fair,I think £4 is a bargain for like 2 hours tuition. Also tried to get a temp job in my department but missed the opportunity by a few hours. But wish me luck! Applying to grad placements at the moment! Woo!

I'm going to join in this challenge too if that's OK.

So far this month I've made £52 on ebay plus about another £10 (goods have hopefully arrived with sellers now but too early to count..). I have more things listed and more still to list....

I might look into mystery shopping again and see if I can get back into surveys - or at least enough to get a payout, I currently have about £5 trapped in one site!

Good luck to the other newbies and existing challengers.

OH came home from work today with a £100 Supercheque from work for the fact that his team have managed to not have an accident all year!!! Strange but true.....and we are not complaining! Have converted them to Mothercare vouchers as we need a new mattress for the new baby's cot and another one for my little boy who had his 2nd hand from a friend of mine as a baby and took it to his new bed and has peed it about 6 times, and although it has been cleaned each time, now he is well and truly dry, he needs a new one too. We also need a couple of mattress protectors, so I think that will probably all come to about £100 anyway and once I have paid that with the vouchers I wil transfer the money from my account as would have bought these items anyway.

Am waiting till end of month for ebay totals post fees so will be better able to update my as yet pathetic amount then!

  • Not doing very well. Got a form for a Mercadona card today but my limited Spanish and translate.google indicate that it is just a store card with no benefits. I'll take it to work and get a proper Spanish speaker to translate just to be sure, but that is a downer as it is where I do most of my shopping. On a non-money-saving point I have found out that a local fire station (probably) do kids parties, so that's my son's 4th in August sorted. Whatever it costs it's probably less than the amount I'd blow if I organised it myself and he will love it so much I just can't wait.

fab news! However, don't buy your mattresses from mothercare, especially for a cot one which will only last a couple of years. I have bought my daughters' last two mattresses from Amazon and they have been brilliant. Do a bit of research on the type of mattress you'd be buying from Mothercare - ie spring/foam filled/hypoallergen and then do the same search on Amazon. I guarantee you'll get it for 1/3 of the price - and with free next day delivery. Save your vouchers for a bulky item like your next car seat. :)

Really bad week for me.. completely up to my limit with my bank account so had to use my paypal balance to make sure I didn't go over. Luckily I had some left over from last year, so I've still kept in what I've made this year. Looking forward to February and a better month.
