  • Hi, I know I'm slightly late joining in but having £2012 saved by the end of this year would be fantastic (hoping to love out).

Hope you don't mind me tagging along!

I have so far made a grand £0 but to my defence I have been writing 5 essays for my degree course.

I have also put some babysitting ads up on gumtree. Had a response today about babysitting weekends and holidays but I'm not sure I'd want to be tied in. But I shall give them a ring and see.

Starting a bit late but going to attempt this.
I'm a student so definitely need to start saving money. :)
Managed £9.43 so far in cashback.
  • I haven't been on to report progress for about a week as I've been so busy eBaying etc.

My total is now £194.42, so I already passed the January target, made up of:

    - Coupons £3.00
    - eBay £181.41
    - Survey money received £10.00
    - Roadkill £0.01

At the weekend I went to a jumble and bought a few bits that I have since put on eBay, including a fruit box full of CD's & DVD's for £1 - any that don't sell will go to music magpie.

Glad to see people are doing really well

    Hi all,
I was looking for some advice about shop and scan. I got the opportunity to sign up but wanted to know what other peoples experiences were first. It seems simple enough.
Also, I have finally managed to list some stuff on e*ay during the free listings weekend. I have a limit of 10 items this month as its the first time I have sold anything on there. There are a few bids and watchers on nearly all my items, so fingers crossed.:)

  • Hello,

Could you add me to the list too please? I know it's a bit late but I've just decided I want to save up a decent amount of money this year and found this challenge.

I used to be pretty good with the surveys and cashback etc, but since moving to Spain a lot of avenues have closed. I have just reduced my working week from 5 days to 4 to spend more time with my toddler so taking on extra work isn't really an option either.

I will therefore mainly be saving money by not spending it on things I don't need, I just transferred £6 to my savings account as I managed to resist the urge to buy a few random Schleich animals at half price in the Early Learning Centre today. I am trying to lose a bit of weight so that should help with spending far too much money on lunches that I don't need, and as of today I am not going to buy any more clothes even if they are 70% off, and especially if they are too small for me but I hope that I'm going to fit into them soon! I will also test out my very limited Spanish language skills and try to apply for the loyalty cards in the supermarkets here.

  • Hi everyone,

really impressed with everybody's totals and their dedication to ebay :) yet to get on there this year it just soooo dull. Making up my current total by mystery shopping and selling the old cat tree. More to do but following the thread helps lots :)

Slid backwards briefly after realizing that I hadn't deducted costs from a couple of earlier sales (£5.01 postage and a couple of quid of ebay fees), back on track with another ebay sale though - total is now £136.45 so i'm just ahead of the £5.50/day line and hope to make it to £167.67 by the end of the month to keep on track :)

Looking forward there are a few things that should turn up in Feb/March to keep boosting my balance, but by the middle of the year i'll need to start having some ideas about how to push the total up...
