Just a heads up- its my daughters year 11 prom this year and nearly the whole year are either in the process of looking for or have already brought thier prom dresses! If you are going to sell it as a prom dress- nows the time. Dont forget it may need altering and with wedding/prom season seamstresses are going to be busy. (This is what I have been told by two local seamstresses).Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I thought it was worth pointing out.

 Really? It's only January - they won't have even started revising yet!! I guess it's a bigger deal than the old 'Leaving Discos' we had in my day! I'll be seeing the bride this Friday so will see if I can subtley guage the lie of the land...

Does anyone know a website that will buy old lp/ albums like music magpie or zapper where you enter the bar code and to gives you a price - music magpie does CDs etc but not old vinyl records.

I don't know of any online places but might be worth seeking out a local independent record store who might buy them in bulk? Or if any of them are rare (picture discs etc) might be worth looking at how much they're going for on ebay?

Wow Clipperty, I wish I had that sort of loose change knocking about, all I ever find in handbags etc are old crisp packets and things.

I know Mennie said s/he was unable to send out any more copies of the spreadsheet but I wondered whether anyone who already has it would mind forwarding it on please? Let me know and I'll PM you my email *sweet smile*

Also meant to say congratulations to Sexymouse!! :)

  • I am enjoying everyones ideas and successes and thoughts, and well done with the handbags! and the child benefit lady. I suspect you two will have an awesome year, going from one extreme to the other!:T
I have diarised bill swaps, done surveys cancelled mobile contract, and saved £160 on the house insurance renewal!!! :j Oh yeah, and got a job lol. I have a stinking head cold which is how I could have possibly forgotten that ha ha :rotfl:part time, but hope enough to balance the books, which leaves this challenge money all mine!!!
And I got a basic book out of the library on savings and investments( similar to this website) so I now understand all those pension letters I have been putting in my shoebox. Ive always hated not understanding them. Next week Income Tax, bring it on!

Bad news is that because of fantastic deals on house insurance, two special weekends away, advance train travel, full present cupboard courtesy of Boots, repair and bargain coffee, it is the end of our financial month and there is nothing left over:(. I am going to have a serious talk with myself about the difference between bargains, and not spending anything in the first place. will update my signature to £32!
Keep the faith, whatever path we choose we are all heading the same direction

For Shopandscan you have to apply through a different website, https://www.volunteer4panels.com, and if you are successful you will get an email from Shopandscan. I applied recently and got accepted pretty quickly.

For survey sites there is a page dedicated to surveys on this site with a list of the best websites.

  • Been a buys bee, with ebay, so have managed to get back on track and up to £125 :D

Also have quite a few things on ebay ending before the end of the month so should be up to about £200 :D, so much more than i thought i could make in january!

could someone please remind me what the amount was per month that we needed to make??

    thanks :D
