I cant use the keyboard or mouse in ubuntu just the wired mouse now in ubuntu and not the keyboard. Cant use the mousepad in ubuntu either.
Only used the arrows, enter and esc in bios and arrows and enter in windows recovery.
I thought f10 on a vaio does a complete clean install and you couldnt select repair because I used it once soon afer she had it for some reason I cant remember now why. I just know that its handy to have but scary at the same time, If its hit by mistake on start up there is no turning back nothing stops it wiping the drive it doesnt even give you an Are you sure you want to do this option in case of errorsThanx

That will not affect the docs/photots/tunes.
I just restarted by PC in Windows to make sure where the options are (was using Ubuntu earlier ) Press F8 on boot and the first options should be repair your computer on the F8 screen , that will then load the repair options which includes system restore, but it will also give you chance to check the system options too so you could use the command prompt to run a sfc check http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html , I have to go out now so someone else like jayme/gj/sg will help if needs be.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thats useful to know, thanks for that I've done that in the past and was just doing it now, I'll start again. will that save the iunes ok too?Thanx

I'm not an Apple fan so never used iTunes, but with normal software, anything specific to a person is saved in their profile... So there should be an AppData\itunes folder in the profile which all the songs etc in0

1. as stated by SG, make sure you back EVERYTHING up before attempting any repair.
2. As developed as ubuntu is these days, it's still not guaranteed to have drivers that will work with all hardware, so don't get too hung up on that.
3. the system restore option when you next try and get into windows is a very sensible first step to try.
4. Concur that full re-install should be the last option.
5. Refer to 1. above......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

if they're not there, look within the itunes folder itself, possibly having to dig down a couple of levels to find it...the folder sizes will give you a clue when you're looking for them......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

the itunes folder is in My Music, all the itunes library saves in the play count and the ratings, but you will have to back up anything in music/itunes/itunes media folder as that's where any music bought on itunes is saved along with tv shows and apps.0
