Oh I know, I know. Today is just one of those post-Christmas here we are again, days....but I was just using the whole singledom/lots of friends thing to try and say to those who look at me and envy the friends I have, that we have to appreciate what we DO have, because for everything we have, there will always be something that we don't have and that we envy others for.

Don't get me wrong, I have some very close friendships, that I wouldn't want to jeopardise, but at the same time it would be quite nice to mean something more to someone. That will happen, I am sure, when the time is right.

In the meantime, I do know how very lucky I am to have friends. I HAVE got out there and made new friends over the last year or so, and I am sure that will continue.

And I will carry on being ME. That has to be good enough :)

It's not enough to know. You have to believe.

Have you told your friends you're looking and to keep their eyes out? Give them a list of attributes. But "Must like nice shoes" is going to cut the field down dramatically... ;):p

    One day, beanie....one day....xx

So, yesterday was one of those strange meh days, as you can see - not horrid, but just one of those days we all get from time to time!

But later in the day I met the guys for pre-football drinks and went to the match. Had we won, or at least drawn, I think my mood would have been lifted immediately, with no care for anything else, but as it was a 2-0 loss just meant a quick beer after the game and heading home. Oh well, that is the MSE way of doing it I guess!! And I was given a lift home, so saved on taxis too which helps keep things within budget.

So....today - a counselling session this morning, which I think is well timed, and then a bit of a pottering afternoon doing a bit of washing and ironing and the like. Heading out to a pub quiz with a friend this afternoon which should be a laugh.

Moneywise, am trying hard to keep things more or less within the budgets that I have given myself. It is going to be difficult, but I have to do it. I am seeing just how tight things are if I want to keep all the things going that I have started......focus, girl, focus!!

Hope you are all having a good few days xx

Hypno, been reading but not posting and some interesting stuff yesterday. I guess none of us have everything all the time. Amazing friends are a real achievement you know. I know society is all about us having relationships and I think its a shame as it kind of devalues friendship. It's as though we 'should' swap friends for a partner at some point. Obviously you CAN have both but we all have X amount of time and if you spend it with one person you're not spending it with others IYSWIM. I'm obviously in a different position in that I dont want the whole relationship thing so am happy to spend a huge amount of time with friends and I see them as being everything I need.

For those like KM and DT who want more friends in their lives all I can say is that it takes time and effort. My sis moved to Oz on her own years ago and her mantra is 'When someone says, we must get a coffee, whip out your diary and get a date in!' I need to get out there more in the new city so I've messaged a few friends of friends and suggested we get some concrete plans. They might never reply and if so Im no worse off than I am now but if they do than thats more folk to see and potentially some good friends to spend time with.

Online dating can be a bit scary and rejection is common before you even meet but I can honestly say that Ive met some fab guys online. Some I see now, some I dont but nothing awful has ever happened, worse case scenario is that he's wore jeans and a matching denim jacket so it's just been one drink then home alone!!! X

  • I don't know why I am even commenting on the online dating thing as I am so not qualified to seen as I have been with my husband for years but I see where Hypno is coming from. I don't think I could do it. Something about it seems 'wrong' but I know that's my issues...When I was single (a long time ago) my pride would have 'expected' the guy to make the first move...too proud and private (and a perfectionist) obviously me...and those three P's put up an invisible wall I guess to many things...not good sometimes!
