  • Hi Hypno what stands out amongst everything in your diaries lately (for me) is how many friends you have! I really envy this. One thing that home and children and the all consuming juggling everything has done for me is make me (without realising until this year...I'm 40) forget to have a life myself. I haven't forgotten about me totally luckily I've been able to spend on me when needed but time to make new friends and nuture my social side has been nil and I find myself in quite a family 'bubble'.....which is lovely because I have a lovely family in all senses however I still feel lonely sometimes...does that make sense?

I mean lonely because I need more friendship. I think people who know me think I have lots of friends but I don't anymore and I need to make new ones. Don't know how but I think 2012 should be the year that I open myself to bringing people into my life...the other thing is I am intensely private (no idea why?) so its 'safer' I think for me to stay as I am and easier BUT I don't want to....am I even making sense lol

Have a lovely Christmas with some of your many lovely friends...you're very rich!

    Oh Hypno you’re the best.
    Your diary’s full of jest.
And sometimes a crisis or three.

    This yuletide you need rest
And to be treated the best
By your crazy madly skiing family.

We all hope that you know
How much we love you so.
And how much we admire your steely grit.

To pay back a hundred grand
    Is harder than it sounds,
And already it sounds pretty hard to me.

    I’m just trying to say
    In my own peculiar way
That we think you are the knees of an aphid.

This year that is to come
    Will be full of FUN!
So enjoy it as you’ve earned it..hooray! :T

Pickle that is so superb! :T:T Thank you so so much :D:kisses3:

TDQ, Yes, I think it is going to be a good one. I'm quite content about the whole thing really :)

KM, I am very lucky that I have a lot of friends. Some of them have been there for years, although they sometimes drift in and out of frequency in my life, as I do in theirs.

However, in the last year and a half, I have definitely opened myself up to meeting more new people and making new friends. This was very difficult because I too am quite a private person, and my confidence was (as you all know) at rock bottom. My social skills were pretty poor, to be honest, and I too was hiding behind the safety of my own company.

Meeting new people terrified me. And there are still situations that I wouldn't feel comfortable in, that others take as the norm.....for example, I wouldn't try online dating - I don't have that level of confidence, so stay right away from it.

BUT, I have, over the last year, grown in confidence, am learning the situations that I can cope with and those that I can't. I have learned what I like about myself, and about other people, and what I don't. Again, some of those answers have been surprising, but it is all working towards a very positive outcome.

Along the way there are things I don't like - remember the whole "friday night out" thing I had going on a few months back? Well, that lead to tears almost every week when I got home. Now those tears are very much an exception rather than the norm. I'm getting there :D
