Having worked in a Vivarium for a couple of years I can tell you snakes which were given to us having refused to eat dead food (and the owners found it too distasteful to feed them live food) were easily induced to eat the dead food by it being jiggled about a bit or warmed up. Throw a defrosted mouse into a cage and its no wonder they won't eat.

There are some snakes that will not eat dead food.

You can jiggle all you want they will not eat it lol

They are not a majority however they do exist and in numbers.
  • Never came across one and we had hundreds pass through our work and the people who had worked there for decades had never come across one.

No but my point is that a large number of the snakes donated to us were because their owners could not induce them to eat dead food which was easily achieved by us. So I would view people saying they couldn't get their snake to eat live food to not know how to do it properly rather than that it can't be done at all.

I agree, but thats the majority. There are still snakes that will not eat dead food. Also there is a good chance you would have not have seen all species as well as all types with different eating habits.

There are also many documented cases on the INTERNET regarding the need too use live food due to a snake not taking anything else. The warming up of food and jiggling technique is well documented and also it is well documented it does not always work.
  • Of course, there are snakes who will not eat df..especially wild caught, and or Royal Pythons...they are renowned for being little sods with regard to their eating.

True, some can be bought round with braining, warming slightly, placing food item in a certain location, or swapping prey item (gerbil, rat, multi, rabbit pup etc) But there is always one, who will only eat live

Feeding a kitten to a python is just as wrong as feeding any other animal.

I don't think anyone on this thread said it was more wrong to feed a kitten to a python than it was to feed any other animal. This has already been discussed.
I had too get a dog put down once at the vets. I sat with my dog and put him at ease and talked to him. If i had taken a
video of it would it have been seen as sadistic?

Is the person searching for these vids to watch them just as sadistic?

Is the SUN and other newspapers just as sadistic for printing the photo's for the extra sales ?

Its a judgment call regarding the FIRST vid.
I seriously don't know how you can compare a sicko feeding a kitten to a python for enjoyment to having a dog put to sleep. Having a dog put to sleep is the last kindest thing we can do for our pet if it is in pain and suffering. Recording it could be seen as morbid to some since you would be recording a death however the death is not done in a cruel way.

Who is searching for these videos? I'm sure a few of us here have done a quick Google search to find more information on the story and not to watch the videos but if anyone enjoys watching these videos I would say they are no better than the sicko that done it.

The judgement was on the first vid? I think there was only you here that thought this was quite normal whereas others here including myself could see it would done in a sadistic manner.
A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.

I never said it was normal what i said was the type of animal is irrelevant. A kitten is no more important than a mouse, hamster rabbit etc. . i also said the vid is setup in a sadistic way is a the view of the viewer.(however it is normal too feed live food in certain circumstances)

The actual feeding of the snake is no more sadistic than feeding it with any other animal. The use of the background music and a Santa hat makes it sadistic. its nothing to do with the fact its a cute little kitty.

In the first vid the kitten was never terrified or ill treated before the actions of the snake killing it.

The kitten was going too get eaten with or without the Santa hat and background music it made no difference too the kitten at all. (other than the possibility it kept the kitten calm)

I really don't like snakes and don't think they should be kept as pets due too the feeding of them, however thats my emotional view and my personal belief. However they are kept as pets and they do need fed. And because of this the cat has just as much rites as the mouse.

Btw i also find the youtube vid of the rabbit getting eaten disgusting too and feel its sadistic as there is no need too publish a vid like that. However thats my view. AS A VIEWER!!!. Many will see that as fine as there are no santa hats or music.

I think we are going around in circles here. I will say again, no one on this thread has said kittens have more rights than any other animal.

The majority of us here could see from the first video that this was done in a sadistic manner and not done for the sake of feeding a snake. From your earlier post (quoted above) you did not seem to agree that is was sadistic. Maybe it is normal to feed live food to other animals but is it normal to get enjoyment from it, record it and upload it online for everyone to see? This was done for enterainment becuase this man is clearly disturbed, there is nothing normal about it.

Search my posts i have said the manner in which it was done in my view is sadistic/disturbing(a number of times). However thats my view.

As early as posts #11 and 17 i have said it was unsavoury amongst other things
