  • Don't forget too that these salespeople employed by Capita on behalf of the BBC are on Commission!

Personally I have not had a tv licence for quite a number of years and have no intention of getting one.The cost is one reason but not the main one.I object to being held ransom to a tax which is payable whether you use the service or not. Yes my televisions are capable of picking up bbc channels but there is nothing on there I would ever consider watching,if I want to see constant repeats I can watch gold channel on sky which I do pay to see. I also have a car which is quite capable of doing 140MPH but again I dont use it at that speed and if I did I would go to a race track and pay for the privilege. The licence fee is a ripoff to enable the bbc to pay massive paypackets to jobsworths and various hangerons and I certainly have better things to use my £140 on.

You are aware that a licence is legally required, to watch and/or record any live Television Broadcasts, irrespective of the channel or means of delivery?

It may be frail, its roof may shake, the wind may blow through it, the storm may enter, the rain may enter - but the King of England cannot enter; all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement".

I presume you are aware that, whilst amusing and somewhat poetic, this is completely wrong.

The list of those with statutory right of entry is quite long.

The BBC and it's foot soldiers don't have it

    No, that is abundantly clear.

    Many others do, though.

There will be others like the Royal Mail but you make this list out to be huge and I suspect its only in the double figures

I'm pretty sure they are not on the list.

It's surprisingly long but I wasn't suggesting it was hundreds.

Maybe you have never heard the Richard Stilgoe song. ;)

I presume you are aware that it was said in 1763.

    And quite rightly too.

Royal Mail have statutory right of entry to your home?

    Well, not the exact year!

Just wanted to make sure you knew that it didn't apply today as you could get into some trouble trying to defend your non-existent 'rights' ;)
