My norton runs out in 9 days, can someone please post a free weblink for AVG, as I dont want to download a clone version by mistake!
Also does anyone have a UK Complint number for Norton as they have been awful!

I wouldn't recommend AVG, have a look at a few of the virus / spyware threads on here. Microsoft Security Essentials is getting fair reviews, as are Avira.

Try using Avast! They are free and are not resource heavy.

Free link is the bottom left box.

I noticed that Martin Lewis recommended AVG (along with Avast! and MSE) on Radio 5 Live yesterday afternoon ... (no mention of Avira).

    Anti-virus - Avast!

    Anti-malware - Spywareblaster, Malwarebytes & Spybot.

I rarely get any problems. Touch wood.

To be honest up until relatively recently I've gone without anti-virus software and a personal firewall and have relied on the firewall built into my router, but I'm now using COMODO Internet Security on both my desktop and on my netbook. I've not had a virus for about 10 years now as I'm very careful about what I download, run or click on. Even when I was going without anti-virus I'd scan my PC every few months just to be on the safe side and I've not had any virus issues since my windows 95 or 98 days.

Edit: I avoid using Internet Explorer like the plague (although it has improved lately), I stick to the latest builds of either Chrome or Firefox, both with ad blockers installed. I use unique passwords for pretty much everything and whenever I'm on a wireless network outside of my own home I VPN in to my home network.
