Don't understand a word of what you've said - it's gone right over my head, but I'll give it a go and take it one step at a time. Not tonight though it's a bit late.(or early, depending on your point of view!). Thanks for your help again. I'm sure I'll be able to follow it - slowly.

Did you have any luck with Combofix?
If you are stuck just say.0 -
Yes, as debitcard stated; and the brilliant Avast for me also. This thread you might wish to peruse also (but disregard what I said of Comodo firewall; from particular readings of late, not necessarily on this forum, I'd be reluctant to install it).
Thanks you and debitcard, i will try Avast then when i get my computer.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
Secunia PSI does a similar thing, but it monitors constantly as runs a scan weekly which tells you what needs updated so no need to remember to scan.
If you input your e-mail address it tells you when it has updated it's databases and therefore you can check again.
And it's all free too!0 -
Downloaded the new version of Avast! and really pleased with it as you can now schedule a regular scan rather than having to remember to do it manually.
I was using version 4.8 and did a program update, but it didn't notify me that there was a new version.0 -
I use the firewall built into my Linksys router and Avast anti-virus and that is all.0

Alot of security can be nipped in the bud with the options in your router. Here's my setup:
Router Firewalled
Router DHCP scope limited to 5 devices - 2 pcs, ps3, laptop and blackberry
Router MAC Control Enabled - only the above 5 devices are able to connect
Router admin account renamed to something else
Router admin account password renamed to 16 charachter alphanumerical password.
Router Access Control/Web Filters applied
Wireless SSID set NOT to broadcast
Wireless set to operate at 5ghz as opposed to 2.4
Wireless encryption set to WPA2 AES
Wireless password - 15 character alphanumerical, uppercase, lowercase and symbols
The above = no malware, adware, virus programs needed. Only default Windoes Firewall is enabled.
However if I was to recommend a combo it would have to be Malwarebytes and Eset Nod32.

Sorry, it's me again.
I've been having trouble accessing internet so have completely lost track of where I was up to with clearing trojans from my computer. I think a couple of your replies have disappeared from the forum so I'm just completely baffled. I remember one of your replies told me to turn off my anti virus (which I don't know how to do), so I haven't yet downloaded the Microsoft anti-virus that you suggested. Am I taking a chance not doing this? What am I like?0
