    I'm gobsmacked! Blimey!!

Fancy saying that to people who put their hard earned cash into her having a holiday and her being so ungreatful. It's a recession does she not get that???

    Cheeky bloody mare!

I'm tempted to ask you for her number so I can reply on your behalf OP.

She sounds like an ungrateful, ignorant heifer.

She'll probably be in the divorce court within the next five years.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

    I wouldn't give them 5 years!

I'd definitely be glad to see the back of her, dear me.
  • Ungrateful or what?! Personally I think enough honeymoon contributions to cover two weeks in Spain is very generous, and I would be very happy to get that (or indeed any contributions at all, especially with her attitude). I agree with those who've said there's an implication that people were stingy, but although this might just be me there seems to be a feeling of wanting people to fix it - almost trying to guilt them into offering to contribute more.

Part of me would be really tempted to text back with something like 'Thank you would be nice!' though...

Just another update for you all (I know of you were quite interested).........

said colleague got married and received the money she requested for honeymoon.

Anyway........... I received a text today saying:

It would appear a few of you are asking questions regarding where we are going on honeymoon. As you all know, we requested money for our honeymoon as the wedding was very expensive. Unfortunately we didn't receive as much as we had hoped, and obviously don't just want 2 weeks in Spain! thought I'd let you all know in one text rather than individually.............

er...... right then...... I wouldn't mind 2 weeks in Spain.....

PS Would have been nice for her to thanks us also, as we've not received a Thank You for what we did give her.

Ohhh how could you NOT reply to that!! That is an open invitation to tell her exactly how ungrateful she is! :rotfl:And the bonus is you wouldn't even have to see her again.

With people like her you just have to believe in karma....

This thread actually made me laugh out loud! :rotfl:
    What a spoilt brat!

I'd be tempted to text back saying 'Sorry to hear that, perhaps if you hadn't spent almost £8 (seriously, !!!!!!?!) on each invitation you'd be able to afford a honeymoon you deem acceptable. As you didn't appreciate my gift, if you could please return it to me I will donate it to a charity that would appreciate it.'

    Wedding Day Wonder
Ive read this from start to finish....what an ungrateful excuse for a human being :/ how can anyone be like she has? It's just disgusting in
    My book!

My mum can't understand why I don't want a gift list! I've told her all I'm interested in is our guests being with us! I personally feel its wrong giving people a list of things to buy, horrible horrible! Mum says "but it's tradition" I don't care we aren't havin a sit down meal that's not tradition etc i don't want our friends and family spending their hard earned money on us! Just all wrong in my opinion! Lol

Wedding presents did serve a very useful purpose years ago when couples would be leaving the family home or some kind of lodging house in order to set up a life together.

It wasn't expected that presents would be new things - often family members would keep older items when they replaced something to be passed on when young couples married. In our family, it's only as the country got more affluent in the post-war period that everyone started buying new stuff as presents. Lists then became acceptable because a lot of couples ended up with five toasters and three kettles!
