£2.31 remaining in my purse this week, so may as well chuck that into my very OCD pots. I now have nine pots haha (1/2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2, notes, roadkill). Small change pots are small tupperwares. When I have £10 worth I put a note in the pot and the £10 change in my purse, then chuck any remaining coins in pots at the end of the week :)

Thanks for everyones congratulations, I couldn't remember if I'd posted it on here. Can't wait to start, one month and counting.
The bankers congratulated me too by dropping 20p roadkill at Moorgate :) incidentally new job is based from Moorgate so I can still get their coins. Someone tried to kick the 20p down the escalator and I must look really faffy standing there fannying around with my oyster card whilst I wait for the crowd to die down so I can collect my silver prize.

Ask the bank for some change bags and count it out yourself (£1 worth of 1p's, £1 worth of 2p's, £5 of 5p's and £5 of 10p's) shouldn't have any trouble getting that accepted by the bank that you want to deposit the money into - we've done it regularly. Good luck!

If you count out the first bag of each denomination you can weigh it, then make sure the other bags match. Much quicker than countin each bag. We used to do this years ago when helping Mum count the charity money she collected before banking it. I've seen the bank lady do this too when we paid it in. Old fashioned scales are best for this, you put a bag on each side and make sure they're level.

    Cheers

Just looking for some advice! I have a coffee jar almost filled with coins (coppers and silver) but my bank won't change them! Any ideas where I could get them changed? Ideally I'd like to put them in a savings account (just so they are not lying around the house) but I'm not sure if the building society will accept them either. Thanks :)

Hello ms daisy, you can take your bagged coins to the post office and get them changed too. A lot of banks only let you deposit a certain amount of bagged up coins at a time. The post office don't do this, they will swap the coins for cash. Also many shops have to pay for change, pubs too so if you took your coins there I am sure they would be pleased to help out. Smaller independent shops for sure. Hth! :) x x

    :pGood morning all

ive taken to decluttering the house, and anything else that there may lurk money:rotfl:

last night clearing out an old handbag i found 33p so that was in my pot - off to tidy up my kitchen cupboards and generally a good spring clean the whole kitchen today so hoping finding more cash stashed away in the nooks and crannies

it was very calming too, so a room a day is my plan for the next week

so had read earlier post as we are really motoring motorway style on this thread

that blushing rose comments - please do not worry about how much you are stashing away not every day has to be a biggie amount , or even anything, you have to look at the bigger picture and just being aware of trying to save money is a bonus, think back to times you spent money or didnt even perhaps pick up a 5p off the floor, but now treat it as a game and a laugh at whatever you can pot and it will really perk you up well thats whats it done to me, im refocussing a lot more on my life lately

so keep up the good work gang how little it is its better in the pot then being spent on silly things

have a fun day all maz

    Helloo Potters
I have had to rethink my obsession with my pot after receiving a hefty vet bill for my horse. I am now only potting small change which will still be better than nothing but anything bigger is going into bank account for bill / loan repayments.

I will still be around as I love reading all your posts :D Keep up the good potting :D
  • I put £2.00 in my pot last night. Very disappointed that I haven't seen any roadkill yet, will just have to keep checking though.

Good Morning all Sealed potters and I hope it's a good one.
A very good start, miss.burden, it'll motivate you.

Congratulations kerri! I didn't think you'd be moving far away from stations, you have to keep gaining from those bankers, though do be careful on those elevators!

Your pot must love you with it's daily food supply, Raspberrysauce.

Ah well, Maz, if you don't find any cash at least you're clearing your way through the house. You're not kidding about us motoring through this thread...and it's only been going since 2nd December! I shall be doing a Part 2 a LOT sooner than normal at this rate!

Thanks for the beautiful image, samtoby.

I wondered where you'd got to, LAM. Rotten news about the Vet bill, but all part of life. A very wise plan with the larger stuff for now though.

Well done on the £2, **tracy**. For roadkill try busy places, shops, bus stops, playgrounds/fields.
Have a good day all and stay safe, healthy and saving. :grinheart
