A very Happy Birthday tomorrow :bdaycake:and YES, spend some and save the rest of the money in your pot! Save us a bit of cake!
Thanks for the birthday wishes Sue.
Well i have done extremely well out of this birthday lark. I have decided to pot £10 for now, debating whether to pot anymore, don't want to waste it on day to day stuff, so will give myself a couple of weeks to spend it on a treat for me, then will pot whats left.
Right off to read the last few pages so much to keep up with.
Hope everyone is well. Keep potting.

Have made my pot out of a clean golden syrup tin (I struggle to throw them away as they're so pretty) and have topped it with a disc of card cut from an egg box (didn't trust myself to cut hole in the tin lid of a weekeday evening...)
Think I'll put in the money I save not having lattes at work every day (down to one small one a week and bringing my own disposable filter coffees in) and/or anything I've saved as a result of a "MoneySaving choice" (e.g. smarter shopping, "no, I don't need a magazine" etc).
I might give myself a target next year but want to see how much I save first.Sealed pot challenger#1677

I found a lovely blue and white striped bicuit jar with no lid, lurking in my kitchen. So I sealed the top with sellotape and it's now sitting proudly on the windowsill with 22p in :T
My cunning plan is that my daughter might throw her change in too... but then I'd have to share it in November! Not so cunning then. I made £5 at work today selling some old Christmas lights - which bought my lunch and i still have some change to pot. Good timesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Just a quick question as I haven't got enough to have a good search through the posts...
As we have a couple of months coming up where we are council tax payment free, can this be added to the sealed pot also? It'll stop the temptation of spending itLittle man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
I think this could get addictive. Buoyed by yesterday's amazing cash finds, I am already wondering how to maximise my pot! Found £3 in my coat pocket this morning and instead of thinking Oh good I can buy a coffee, I thought Oh good that's going in the pot.:j Then when I was buying lunch I paid with as much shrapnel as I could muster so that the leftover £1 coins could go in the pot! So should have another £4 to put in today.
I worked out to reach my target I need to put in £10/week approx, and I've already done that in 2 days this week, albeit I don't think it will be so easy going forward.0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

Hi RedGoose, a few years ago I set myself a news years resolution of not having my morning Starbucks (a tradition i'd been doing for the previous 2 years!) and taking in a flask with herbal tea instead, in an attempt to save money and cut down my caffeine. Every day, Monday to Friday, i'd get to work and before I did anything else i'd open the internet and transfer £2.25 to my savings account. I did that so it felt worth it every day to have sacrificed the coffee and so I didn't get complacement. I
I did it for literally the entire year (from my birthday in Jan-birthday following Jan) and guess how much was in there at the end... £535!!!! :j2014: My hardest financial times ever as I complete my degree, and begin a Masters in September. I can do this!
