I've occasionally used broken up crisps with breadcrumbs and cheese as a 'gratin' type topping on savoury dishes. If I had some I'd give this a go.
Actually, I'd probably tip all the broken ones into a bowl with cream cheese or grated cheese and chutney and attack with a fork or spoon - possibly even use this as a spud filling. Or does that sound gluttonish?!

Some good ideas coming in, thanks everyone.

I like the idea of a crunchy topping for cauli cheese...could eat that all day!

And yes the broken bits are too small too small to even be dipped in anything unless we use tweezers. :rotfl:

I've just been thinking that I could possibly use them as a substitute for breadcrumbs as well, bet they would be good as a coating for chicken breast dippers.

    That's tomorrow's tea sorted. ;)

Yes, but I'm glad that someone else does this apart from me...:rotfl:

how about bunging them in a bag and rolling with a rolling pin and using as a crumb base with a little melted butter to bind for a bacon, egg mushroom quiche type thing. You use broken digestives for cheesecake, why not crackers for a savoury dish

Like the sound of that JackieO.

I would probably crush them up more and use them mixed with cheese as a savoury crumble topping for pasta bake or veggie bake.

Use them as a coating for something like Southern Fried Chicken, crush them up real small then dip the chicken in beaten egg, then the crushed crackers,a bit like Japanese Penko? crumbs
  • Mini cheddar sandwiches get my vote, tasty and easy. I'm not too into cooking with crisps and ketchup and stuff.
So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead

It seems everytime I open a packet of cracker (e.g. cream cracker, butter puffs etc.) there is always a couple of broken ones

Anyone have ideas on what to do with these other than throw out for the birds?
