you nugget kincade,if you'd took the time to look about you'd realise that you need only pay one lot of £10 to access the accounts in your name(even if joint named) with that bank.
do try and keep up in future.0 -
Hello there,
I would like to begin reclaiming bank charges and was hoping some of you may be able to help with a few questions I have?
I have a both a personal and a joint bank account with my partner with the Halifax. My partner also has an account with the HSBC on his own. As I am coming to the end of a long time in full time education, things have been really difficult and along the way, we have accrued plenty of bank charges. I'm not sure how much on each account as I have not as yet requested the statements. What I would really like to know is if it is possible to reclaim the charges on the accounts at the same time or whether this is not advisable? I'm just not really sure where to begin.
Oh and to add, I have a large interest free overdraft on my halifax account and we have an overdarft on the joint account too if this makes any difference?
Thank you in advance for your help.

You could certainly process each claim seperately. There is a limit to small claims court awards so it could work out easier.
As you have an overdraft, the Halifax may just clear and close your overdraft instead of giving you a cheque for all the charges.0 -
Hi I'm kind of in the same boat and too need those same questions answering, but what I also want to know is does the £10 cover for all bank accounts if held at same bank, or do I need to send in 3 x £10 for each bank account. I too have a joint and two sole accounts.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Sorry new to this and just realised the posts above answer my question!!0 -
You only have to send 1 cheque for £10 you can send one letter with numerous account numbers. The data protection act covers the individual not the account. So even if you had 10 accounts with the Halifax for example you would only need to send one letter.0

Following on from what I just posted although only one letter and one cheque to do your sar for the statements etc i would then do each account seperately through the stages of claiming the charges back.
Maybe just do one by itself 1st of all so you get to know how to do it and while you are waiting for replies etc then start requesting the statements on other accounts elsewhere and preparing to reclaim those.0 -
Between my wife and i we held three accounts with Barclays.
Using the letter provided on this site i intend to request statements for all three accounts.
1, Do i have to write three letters and enclose a cheque for £10 with each letter?
Or
2, Can i list all three account details in one letter and just send one £10 cheque.
Thanks Chris.0 -
Hi everyone.
I was under the impression that the bank should send you a list of all the charges accrued in the last six years and not all your statements from the last six years!! Seems a bit mad to get all those statements and have to go through them all like that. Surely they can look up on the computer and print off the charges- or do we trust them to do that?!!

Does the bank have to send you a list of all the charges or do we have to trawl through the statements they send us that cover the last six years?! Surely not!0

Can you have a read of Martin's article, link in my signature, and you'll find there exactly what you have to do. Yes, you have to trawl through the statements and work out what charges you can claim for and you have to list them as this will form your defence should you end up going to court.
Check the Reclaim Help Thread link in my signature, post no. 4 for what you can claim.0
