To end on a slightly negative note, my dooyoo reviews were not particularly well received by the acid-tongued users of the website and only rated me somewhat useful and not useful. I have now got 900 points. It might be something I do in the wee hours inbetween feeding and napping, but I don't think I will spend too much time on it.
That reminds me of one of the reasons why I stopped using it. It's somewhat cliquey and the expectations for a review have surged as the benefits for writing a review have dropped. I wrote 100+ reviews back in the day and actually won quite a few 'crowns'.
Unfortunately, the only way to earn any decent rewards from having folk review your content seemed to be to review lots.... and lots..... and lots of other reviews, which was tedious in the extreme (I thought we were being paid to review, not to take part in a boring review/social media hybrid?!)0 -
The monitor has been purchased! We went for the Motorola mbp36 in the end which has a camera, walkie talkie, infra red etc. This is the one DH had set his heart on from the beginning. We have been playing with it tonight, with one of us going into a different room and talking to eachother on it!
Here's how we did it- original price £159.99. Argos special offer: £144.99. With Love to shop vouchers from Texaco points: £104.99. With Nectar points: £79.99. MIL paid the remainder as a welcome to the world pressie for Mini-MSE! (so I will let her off the ebay sales)
So.. I have transferred the £65 that we would have spent if it wasn't for our MSE ways into the overpayment account. That takes us into March's target for next year and 94% of the 2012 target!
Some little items have sold on ebay tonight, 7 of the things that didn't sell on Sunday that I relisted have now sold. They all only went for 99p but every little helps. I've got to make sure I package them up small as if I'm too generous with the bubble wrap then they go over the postage threshold and there is no profit made at all!
I'm not going to bother with Dooyoo after reading the advice by amonite and edinburgher. It seems a bit of a crazy reviewer/reviewee cycle, where I wonder if anyone actually benefits from the reviews, or is it just a 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' of reviewing eachothers reviews. I don't like being criticised IRL or on the internet, so I'm not really up for spending time writing reviews, only to get negative comments which will just wind me up! So I'll carry on ebaying, amazonning, quidco-ing and couponing until I find another source of income.Slow progress is better than no progress.

Just filled in my budget tracker for last week- only spent £85.26 on food! First time been under budget! And that was even with going out for a curry to celebrate our anniversary. No spend on fuel, which is great.Slow progress is better than no progress.

Hiya,
If you can possibly persevere with DooYoo I do think its worth it, at least you don't get screened out of the reviews like you do with surveys -I hate that!
The comments on my first few reviews were really mean and I felt personally attacked but as I say once the newbie badge was gone and I scratched a few backs and got into the swing of reviewing, I feel it is worth the time (even if reading reviews is really boring).
As I say, if you want me to have a look at your reviews and offer some constructive non-acid-tongued advice let me know, another MSEr did that for me when I first joined and it really helped me.
Well done for your food spends! :T:T0 -
Thank you, ammonite, perhaps I'll give it a go once the month is up. I do tend to take nasty virtual comments personally!
Quidco have just emailed to say £50 is on it's way, I'm loving the steady flow of cash towards the overpayments!Slow progress is better than no progress.

Hi,
If you like writing then I recommend textbroker. It's not reviews but any written article ordered by a client... can be childcare, holidays, finance, fashion etc. The pay out is way better and clear before you write the article. Here's the MSE discussion on it.
I built a DooYoo empire (many crowns) a few years back but I soon realised I was earning a pittance!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Is Mini-MSE here yet or is he/she still to arrive? We have a mini-ammonite on the way! I'll have a look at the motorola monitor. I like the look of the angelcare ac1100 its basically £200 though0

Mini-MSE was due today actually, but she decided to come early! She was 4 weeks old on Monday. When are you due? It is relentless hard work but lovely all the same!Slow progress is better than no progress.

Aww congrats! I haven't even thought about mini ammonite coming early as I'm so convinced it will be a toss up between him/her and Santa turning up. Due in December! Is it your first?
Going to be a challenging year ahead money wise I think!0 -
Yes, she is our first! I know what you mean about being a challenge financially, we have never had to survive on less money, so living to a stricter budget might be tough.
The £50 from quidco has arrived- very quick! I have transferred it and sig updated.
Rant alert- I just checked my virgin card to check my balance was zero and my account was closed. It was indeed but not before they had charged me the £140 annual fee that I wanted to avoid! (see previous posts). grrrrrrr!!!I had spoken to an 'advisor' when I asked them to close my account and he had assured me that there would be no fee if I waited until the statement to clear my final balance. I even offered to clear the account there and then with my debit card but he said 'no, no, you can leave it until your statement'. grrrrrr! So I have written a strongly worded message through their site asking for a cheque for the fee. I will cry down the phone if necessary!
Sorry for starting the day with a rant!Slow progress is better than no progress.
