In my opinion gas n air rocks
. But in those far flung days only hippies had water births - now I'd go for that option if I could. But the most important thing is to have a healthy baby at the end - so if that means drugs, c section etc then it doesn't really matter
.

Thanks guys! Absolutely, the baby has to come out safely one way or another so as long as the baby is fine, I'll take anything!
Well done for your eBay profits MFB50 I am going to start listing next week I think. Got a few bits to sell which might do well in the run up to Christmas. It is boring listing though isn't it!0 -
Amazon payment cleared this morning- £5.59 transferred and sig updated.
This means I have achieved 96% of my target! Only £125 to go, which will be done by the 1st as my standing order goes into the savings. As I mentioned before, if I can finish 3 months ahead of schedule every year then I may be mortgage free by 45! There is a lot that can happen before then though so I won't look too far ahead.
My DH's ebay items are all due to come to an end over the coming week. We're not expecting them all to sell first time round but he has done the time consuming bit and created the listings, so it will be easy enough just to put them back on.
Have a good day, everyone! Me and Mini-MSE aren't planning on leaving the house in this weather!Slow progress is better than no progress.

Seeing as I haven't got any money transfers to update today, I'll share my conspiracy theory with you.
We were taught some pretty useless subjects at school- General studies in 6th form being one of them. We all agree that financial education and life skills would be a much more useful lesson to teach children. How to live to a budget, interest rates, credit cards, loans, saving, paying mortgage early etc.
BUT..this is not in the banks best interest, or the governments for that matter. The banks make a hell of a lot of money out of people being rubbish with money, and therefore the government do as a result of tax. I dread to think how much cash I wasted in the 5 years between finishing uni and having my lbm. Do you think it is kept out of schools deliberately? Therefore the onus is on parents to pass on their knowledge.
We will be teaching Mini-MSE, that's for sure.Slow progress is better than no progress.

Wow!! I have had a response from the credit card and had a full refund of the fee, no quibbling! Woo hoo! I am very impressed. I have transferred the money as it was money already spent.
So I have reached the £3060 target for 2012! Yay! On to 2013's target now...Slow progress is better than no progress.

Well done MFB50
That is great that you have smashed the 2012 target!!!!!!! When do you plan to overpay it or are you just keeping it in savings for the time being?
I agree that budgeting etc would have been better taught in schools rather than much of the drivel and algebra! My parents were really good with me, I was always asked with birthday money if I wanted to buy anything, more often than not I didn't so between 50%-100% of it went in the bank, same at xmas then I just saved as much as I could when I got part-time jobs and now I'm working full time and paying for a house, this is the poorest I've ever been!!! However, I am good with the budget, we get to save and enjoy life too. I feel like crying at the thought of wasting money!0 -
Thanks, Ammonite! I'm not paying it off just yet as I'm trying to build up an emergency fund at the mo. I do need to transfer it into a higher interest savings account though as it's currently just in an online saver to enable me to easily transfer into it.Slow progress is better than no progress.

That's what I'm doing too. My hours will be changing when I go back after maternity so I'm not sure what our income will be like so the more savings we have the better. However, we are doing significantly better than we thought at the moment on the savings front so if I feel we can spare it we'll be overpaying the £2100 in April which is technically earmarked for overpayments (that's the amount we need to overpay each year to reduce the mortgage by one year and effectively half the mortgage term).0

Applied for the top ISA and activated my new nectar credit card. Just need to spend £1000 in 3 months to get 10000 points!
Sold a couple of items on ebay but profit is only about £7 so far. I will transfer once the payment clears.Slow progress is better than no progress.
