  • I've just checked and they've gone out of stock now - and this is a discontinued model so that looks to be it unless they get some more from somewhere.

If it's genuinely damaged, did you report this? They will be obliged to accept a return in that case. Perhaps you could take some photos and e-mail them?

In any event, distance selling regs mean they must accept a return within seven days for whatever reason, unless you bought as a business, but you would probably have to pay for transport and insurance

    Sorry it didn't work out

Yes very bad customer service there are refusing to pick this up , they are telling me its not faulty , they only pick up faulty items .....bad workmanship is not classed as faulty so she tells me and she said she knows the Law!!!!

Im very angry now, i paid by Paypal what can i do?
tell her she may know the law, but you know your rights... speak to trading standards/consumer direct to get clued up on exactly what you can do.

you didn't buy a reconditioned/refurbished model - so should expect an absolutely new set - and you are entitled to a new one or money back to compensate.

Mention trading standards and that you may lodge a complaint about them for sending you an item not as described...

Cannot see the problem. If its marked don't have it. You have the 15 days money back . Don't see how they can charge you for shipping giving their guarantee. They have been good as gold with me. And I agree the picture is great.
I have tried all the menu functions, with monitors you can move the picture to the right and left up and down. But with these I cannot [ unless you know different]. As this has sat around in a depot for 4 days I would rather not have the same TV back, but I do like the TV and it is attractive. So if these are finished I will have it back. Sorted.
Sounds good, its just a bit weird looking at the picture we are only talking about 3 inches but its still enough to be put off. And I will not pay £500 to not accept second best. If only they would send a tech. out it will probably be sorted in minutes.

  • atro1, have you tried the picture sizing options - 16:9, full screen, zoom, etc.

Perhaps fiddling with that might help. Otherwise, why won't they send out an engineer. If they've sold out, it's unlikely you'll get another one as nice as this at that sort of price.

I think this model had the double whammy of being discontinued and not being "HD Ready" so they chopped 'em out pretty cheap:T

I have tried all of those, even had the whizz kid teenagers at it.
I wish they would send an Tech. We all agree its a set up prob.I will try tomorrow to get them to send one.
Watching the footie on it and its greatbut we are missing the left hand side.
'Even a crack to move the whole tv to the right perhaps that would sort it.

As a young man I worked in TV's so I have tried most of the normal things.
I am watching the football on it and its great,
I have even had the whizz kids having a go but still no joy, but we all agree its a set up prob;em.
I will try tomorrow to get them to send an engineer out. Do not really want to lose it. But cannot watch it like this.
    Damn nuisance!!

Actually, if you look at the text of their "15 days satisfied or your money back" offer, they say the return will be at your own expense. They are legally entitled to insist on that, provided they said so up front (which they did, unless you want to argue that they didn't make it clear enough). This doesn't apply if the item is faulty, but then you're back to having to argue over whether it's faulty or not.

The CS rep's claim that bad workmanship doesn't count sounds like bull to me. The law requires the item to be of satisfactory quality.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) says that goods should be as follows:

    Of satisfactory quality.

This means the goods must meet the standards that any reasonable person would expect, taking into account the description, the price and all other relevant information. In some circumstances, the retailer may be liable for any statement made by the manufacturer about the goods.

Satisfactory quality includes the appearance and finish of the goods, their safety and durability and whether they are free from defects (including minor faults)
    http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/calitem.cgi?file=ADV0043-1011.txt
Of course, what standards "a reasonable person would expect" is a matter of opinion. But the last paragraph indicates that defects in the finish of the item are relevant in determining this. If you think the item doesn't meet those reasonable standards, don't let them fob you off with phoney claims about the law.

P.S. Having said that, if I was happy with the picture quality (as you say you are) I might be tempted to put up with defects in the finish. If you get a replacement or alternative, you might find the PQ isn't as good!

I worry when I see your posts. Maybe you and technology are not mutually compatible?

    That may sound harsh but....:p

At 61 words really do not bother me, so no offence taken, because I do agree with you I am rapidly becoming a technophobe [if that's a word]. But I can muddle through with a PC, a mobile phone and usually work the Tv out. But, 2 marriages 2 kids and I still cannot understand women!! Now where's my zimmerframe.
As to the TV I am hoping that I can get them to send a tech. out to it!!
