So we gather its not HD ready---but a fair tv for the price.
Code available for £12 and go through quidco for another 2 %. Now how do we get rid of the 'zen' thingybob they are selling with it for £37 oddd.?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Not a bad price for a HD ready Plasma.
WHAT?S!!!!horpe0 -
Just be aware that it could turn up with a 2 pin plug on it , like the dvd player I bought my nephew last week did . Have had to cut that plug off and put a 3 pin plug on it , luckily the dvd player is double insulated so I could do that without worrying too much .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Secondly, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The majority of people will not watch a HD broadcast in the lifespan of their current TV. HD-DVD/Blu Ray won't be mainstream for a couple of years at best, gaming (360/ps3) is certainly not advised on any plasma anyway.
But you can upscale your movies to HD with even half-decent DVD players. I bought a Toshiba one from eBay this week and it only cost £52 inc p+p0 -
although I gather this tv is not hd ready [yawn] I have ordered it, aparently I have 15 days to try it, we will see. Used voucher code plus Quid co. Will keep you informed.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

OK, enough already!
I've just ordered this and I thought I'd give you my rationale. Anyone is quite welcome to accept my advice/opinion or not.
I was after a large screen TV that would be used primarily for displaying dvd/freeview/skytv. The kids nag and moan that our paltry 32” widescreen is behind the times. I’m happy to argue that the box gives a great picture but when the missus starts to bleat about how old-fashioned it looks and how everyone in the neighbourhood has got a big flat screen jobbie; against my better judgement, I started to look around.
Picture quality is of course important; however price/performance would be a key rationale for my purchase. I'm not a fool and I do appreciate a good picture. Yet because I'm not a fool, I will not pay for features/branding/performance criteria that are irrelevant to my short term needs.
HDTV is not on my agenda right now. I won’t pay Sky any more than I have to and together with the BBC offering; HDTV is pretty rank right now.
HD-Video, either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, is similarly not on my agenda either. I’m not about to replace my existing DVD collection – even selectively. Yet an upscaling DVD player might be a worthwhile purchase and will provide at least 80% of the benefits of HD.
So, why do I need an HD screen? Answer is, I don’t; and I would suggest most people don’t either.
Regarding games, they are the preserve of the kids. We’ve got a Wii, XBOX 360 and PS2 that are run through CRT screens and they have PC games run through a 19” LCD for the PC and they look great. Eventually, I might let them use the plasma to run games or I might not – it will be mine after all…..
So, if anyone needs a little friendly advice – here it is.
Don’t blow your budget if you want a good, larger flat screen. Less than £600 will get you something that will suit most people’s needs.
Pretty soon, prices will come down across the boards so grab a bargain while it’s going or wait and another bargain will surely turn up.
I can’t believe that people were paying £5000+ for a 42” plasma not so long ago - and it wouldn’t have been HD ready either:eek:0 -

can someone clarify please... would any 'hd ready' tv give the same picture quality as an sd tv if the hd connectors are not used ie. use scart instead of DVI?0
