MG, I thank you for that very inciteful post. Believe me, I did not ask the questions I asked to either be awkward or unreasonable. I just felt stuck, not knowing where to turn, because I think I am still in the groove of the original frugality Make do and Mend Mode. I totally respect that you have to move forward and that while things have changed for others, they have changed for you also. Nothing stays the same, hence I suggested the title of the thread Matrix Evolution, which became Matrix Re-Evolution, but for me the play on words was Matrix REVOLUTION, because this is when things started to be obviously changing.
The whole Matrix concept is one that I wholly embraced, because of this thread and the support of some amazing people. I acquired Leyla, I coped with a relationship breakdown, and I stopped smoking, I also had the courage to believe in myself and have had 3 jobs since I joined the thread, and no period of lengthy unemployment.
I believe my one downfall is that I find it difficult to accept change in something that is working for me, although I accept that it has to change, sometimes I'm like, 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' kind of thing.
Things are clearer now though, onwards and upwards.
I feel kind of bad that I kicked this off, my reasons were honest and I'm so glad that it has been discussed in an adult fashion - any where else on MSE, it would have turned into a bitter, free-for-all.

    Thank you. xx

Edit to add, I've just totally re-read everything from my 1st question and I'm feeling like I've caused somekind of split or parting of the ways. That was not my intention. I want to stay here and post, and feel comfortable doing it. The support and advice is like no other and its has played an important part in my life over the last 18 months. We are a group and what we have is special and it helps people. Its positivity and gratitude driven, and just because I am not in the market for buying a house or starting a business, it doesnt mean I cant just drop in and post from time to time. The onus has moved away from being a debt-free-wannabee diary, its still evolving. I just don't know, into what as yet.

I for one would really miss this thread if it disbanded. I very, very rarely post but I read every day. I am constantly amazed by you all, and in a way live my life through you. I feel I never have anything to contribute as my life really does consist of going to work and coming home again. I have no social life to talk of and have always considered myself to be of average intelligence until I read some of the posts from different people on here and realised I am just a simple girl!

When I have posted, particularly about my daughter and her health, I received the most amazing support that had me in tears.

So what I am trying to say is that, ok the world won't end if the thread finishes, but actually it could affect more people than you realise - perhaps people like me who don't post but always read!

I think she posted it on whichever thread was current last Christmas Claire...

I'm making florentines now... Last week I made them using Nigella's recipe, this week I'm using Mary Berry which I used last year, but with a few adaptations. It'll be interesting to see the results, but I've run out of baking paper so am having to make them in very small batches :(

ETA - for anyone who is interested, Nigella's recipe makes small, dense, chewy Florentines, while Mary Berry's makes them larger, thinner, crispier and more brandy snap-like. I use almonds and cranberries in them rather than cherries and angelica, and put very little chocolate on them.
