I'm nearly finished with my florentines... Dark, milk and white choc being applied on breaks from work, and now there's a whole lot more stuff to try. MG - can the biscotti be made with chocolate chips? I've used all my cranberries in the florentines0
-
Oooh!!! Dark chocolate and peanut biscotti - Mmmmmm!!!
Off to the kitchen I go to play - but from memory, substitute the weight of cranberries for the same weight of chocolate and peanuts combined (both chopped up roughly). And add 2 tbsp of bitter cocoa (not drinking chocolate)
You are not doing my waistline any good LOL

I've won a £quite a lot of Aldi vouchers in a competition, which is amazing and brightened a grey day, but what do I do with them? Not been to Aldi much but know roughly what they have.
Do I blow it all on Christmas (a la DH) or on a store cupboard type things (a la me), or just use in place of my normal shop in January or ?
Can't think when I last had as many £'s spare as such, and don't want to squander it, but really just can't think what to do. Apologies if this seems a bit frivolous but some advice would be welcome.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0 -

I think that the best value would be to build a store cupboard. You can do this from Aldi - they have 1 kg rice for 40 p and it is good.

Another vote for the store cupboard (but then you know how much of a fan I am). Seriously it cushions you against all sorts of cashflow crap throughout the year.
Take your time and spend wisely and you will find you are still feeling the benefit this time next year.
Knowing you have the staples means you can concentrate on the seasonal stuff which leads t even bigger savings.
But what a great prize

Moam, store cupboard! If I win vouchers right now, I will go and build my store cupboard! I actually looked in it today and thought need to make a list of what I need to stock up on.. tomato sauce, the cheap stuff decanted into expensive heinz bottles, so DH doesn't know the difference, tinned tomatoes, etc.
Well done on your win :j :j0 -
In from work, and caught up with you all - what a lovely prize MOAM. I vote for the store cupboard too. You could always give yourself a small percentage for treats for Christmas, and the rest for storecupboard. Then you'll feel you've had a bit of luxe and also kept your sensible head on. Say a 20%/80% split.
Or you could use 20% to buy ingredients you wouldn't normally buy to make goodies reasonably, e.g. last year I made cranberry and pistachio biscotti, the people I gave the biscotti to were most appreciative. And it was still cheaper than buying them something, and was consumable therefore not adding to the tat clutter!!If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

I'm with Groatie, Moam - give yourselves some treats and spend the rest on your store cupboard.
Send me one of those biscotti MG - I have a mountainous backlog of work to get through tonight0 -
Virtual biscotti on the way (they are very Lush BTW) - best to be eaten with virtual coffee considering the time of night though.
