What I want to be able to do is note what I spent last year on a month by month basis, what I aim to spend on same catorgories this year and where I am at. It has to be simple as I am not very technical, don't really understand spreadsheets can any one suggest something suitable please?

I'm very jealous of all the baking, I'm baking later this week with my youth group though which they'll love! My plan is to make Rocky Road bites in large plastic cups, then make ball heads and decorate them the day after with white chocolate so they look like snowmen, fingers crossed it works!

    How wer your biscotti Bitsy??

Gemmzie - it should work, but I would stand by with a pot of hot water in case they are difficult to turn out.

Had an afternoon at the shops valiantly searching for something for Mum and Dad - but my Christmas Mojo is still MIA. I had FW's voice whispering in my head "protected wants ..... protected needs" - just kidding:D

I think I am just out of practice at this whole consumer thingie. Did make Mum very happy by taking her food shopping list and doing it for her ... and for finding six lovely MacIntosh Red apples for her (her favourite)

The deal is I do the cooking and Mum buys the turkey you see - but she CBA'd hitting the supermarket so I did instead (she still paid though bless her)

So back with boys - both heading into the bath ............... and my bargain of the day, large bottles of Olbas OIl for £1.99 (so I bought two)

Back in the kitchen tomorrow - savoury stuff methinks, braised red cabbage, mealie pudding, lentil soup and onion marmalade for the freezer.

    But first - tea :D

Yo! Protected wants are not a joke - if anything these can save peoples sanity. As to consumarism, please don't get back into it. My feeling is that it will be out of vogue for a long while.

I am trying to become a minimalist. And there is no NorthernLass to tell me off for using 'trying'.

Biscotti were great although I am yet to have the peace quiet to sample one in full. Let's be honest I need to give it my full attention ;) that will probably be tonight's pleasure with a nice coffee with a wee shot of booze within :)
The pics on your blog of the biscotti MG was that two batches or just one? I couldn't seem to get my log to stretch that far as yours in the pic or indeed into two logs.......

Ok what is a protected need/want? Sorry I just can't follow all this financial speak. Simple words please for a thicko......

Ah, this is on my blog - an exercise to work out protected want and an explanation what these are. Just visit and search if you wish...it is entertaining as well; not financial but psychology.

I am off for a run before I get banned...from here not the run.

I'm not sure if consumerism will ever be out of vogue, I think it's just changing location to other parts of the planet. Like China for example.
