This is an annual leave day for me, and so to make the most of it I'm doing a mix of practical and treaty things:
- taking items to booking-in day at local auction house - the very last of my mother's things (she died in 1999! Some jobs you just can't rush or you do violence to yourself)
- taking latest bag of collected bits to charity shop
- having celebratory bowl of soup in local cafe
- re-stocking fridge with Aldi's Super Six etc
- watching first part of Box of Delights this evening
- wrapping the last Christmas pressies
- fussing the cat, just because I love her
I looked in to the eaves last night, and where fairly recently was chaos and so much stuff it made me panic, now there is very little. This made me feel incredibly happy and liberated. This simplifying lark has been a work in progress for most of this year, but baby steps and perseverance are paying off!If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Look forward to seeing pics of the rooms MG. It would be really interesting to see the floor plans too, and how it has changed
Bitsy - nag me, and I'll do some stuff on chocolate over the other side. Unless you want to come down and visit on Thursday when I really need to get this year's Christmas chocs done. If so, wear thermals. It will be cold!0 -

Thanks for the offer but busy Thursday  do you have to do it in the very cold then <insert dumb blonde icon> :rotfl:
I'd love a tutorial or something on the other side:D but I understand if you don't have time to do both
Have thinking about MGs make yourself a cozy corner idea and I have decided where possible I shall choose an hour before school pick up time as many afternoons a week as I can. Sounds easy eh? My biggest challenge will be to get all the jobs and errands I need doing done before then. I think that will require no sneaky logging on to MSE or FB though. Asas it is to admit I spend a fair bit of time on here and then I wonder why I am not as productive. In my defence though it is my form of socialising but perhaps making time for it in the afternoon is a better way to go. Anyway that's the plan for 2012. No chance of it happening for this year though :rotfl:

Crickett - well done, you will be great :T
And ladies - what ever you are doing please keep it up :j I flew through my exam today (well wouldn't it be embarrasing if I find out in 10 weeks time that I have failed it - but it doesn't feel like that).
Now going to read pass cards for my Wednesday one and then get the guitar out. Laters....."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Cor, Bitsy, what sacrilege on the part of your DH - sell Box of Delights  . Not a chance! But at least he is being open with you!
When I was married, my ex used to actually get rid of belongings of mine without informing me, and never let on - it was just one of the many ways he liked to try and undermine me . Sad thing was, he got my daughters to collude in this for years. They thought it was normal and fun as that was the way he presented it to them - "let's play a joke on Mummy". It started when they were very young. When things disappeared there was a wall of silence. Often it was kitchen equipment, the very means I used to feed them all with love. Bizarre.
I only found out about it years later - beyond the divorce. I'm not stupid but I loved them all and trusted him. My older daughter has since realised that what went on wasn't fair, but sadly the younger one still holds me in the contempt she was taught by her father. However, one hopeful thing is she is in counselling just now, and perhaps the counsellor will help her sort out some of her wonky thinking.
Anyway, I have had a lovely day and I feel I made good use of my day off. Errands duly run, Box of Delights to look forward to with the wee treat of an Aldi lemon fool to enjoy whilst it's playing. Heated throw is on, and MG, I hope good progress has been made with the plasterboard! Pix please!!If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Dh has been as good as his word and has started gutting the house - lounge looks fairly liveable in and dining room has a floor again. Dd has offered to help with menu plan and I am going to alternate house and school work till my nice sensible bedtime. My Christmas promise to me is to make sure I have me-time cosied up in bed reading through my mountain of books before I declutter them one by one.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170
