  • Had a lucky break myself today.

My boiler, a combi, is in the garage which is badly lit. To pressurise it when the gauge drops is not a simple procedure - "listen for the running water" when your hearing isn't good, whilst doubled up under the boiler fiddlling with a silly wee plastic knob which tends to detach itself at the crucial moment is all a real faff :o - but as I got home today there was a local plumber's van at my neighbour's door, and the plumbers came out just at that point.

Job done for the cost of 2 pints in the local pub.:D

Well neither of us knows why it was there, one of us must have put it there to pay a bill and forgot about it.

    I'm fed up :(

The consultant hasn't called back, and the GP who called me back (the one I don't like) was eating while talking to me (which is just plain rude) and just suggested taking pain killers and giving it another couple of weeks. Even though he said it didn't sound as if it was normal... Even the notes that came with the mirena say call your doctor if you have severe abdominal pain as it may be escaping... so why doesn't anyone want to check?

Have to go to London tomorrow to have my hair cut and coloured and see friends, so I think I'll have to have an early night tonight so I'm up to it.

Greenbee, please, please insist; if necessary go to A&E or something. These things need to be checked and I do find that GPs here have an overly non inteventionist approach to medicine. Which is a contradiction in terms - I don't know about you but I tend to go to the doctors' when intervention is necessary.

It's only this particular GP I have a problem with, and I'm not the only one. If its bad overnight I'll call the out of hours service. I spoke to my dad, who says I really need to speak to the consultant, not the surgery if possible (not something the GP suggested...) and also to try not to go to the emergency gynae unit as that would add further complication. So if I can stick it out until Monday I can start harrassing the poor secretary until the consultant calls me back :p

I'm not one for running to Doc at any random twinge , but ................... I do think Pain is a sign that something isn't right IYSWIM. So take what action you need to take - and bypass the doc if that is what it takes.

DS2 has his first "on-stage" experience today at The Singing Kettle - he was a "Christmas Bunny" (costumes recycled from Easter perhaps??:D)

Apparently he said his name out loud and proud (at which point the singer realised who's kid he had up there :rotfl:) and sang and danced his very best.

Gran and Gran's best friend have got him down for an Oscar already:rotfl:

No flies on this wee man, dressed as a Shepherd, crook in hand, lamb toy under arm and "Mary" the pink poodle as his "sheepdog" .... and yes there are photographs to be rolled out on his 18th birthday :rotfl:.

  • Evening all,

I am popping in again today to see how Crickett got on at work.

I am in the middle of a grievance procedure and don't really know what to expect etc. I am not in the union but have joined today after speaking to our union rep who was extremely supportive, helpful and surprised at the lack of support and help I have received from our HR dept.

Don't do it alone Crickett. I have learned my lesson after 4 months of thinking I am on my own to ensure my manager can't get away with his usual underhand and downright unprofessional tactics I now can contact the union and rep has agreed to accompany me to my initial grievance meeting.

I am very nervous about it but I know I have not done anything wrong. I am, however, expecting my manager to use underhand tactics against me which will be irrelevant.

I really hope today went okay.

    Take care

I have done one difficult thing twice today. I phoned two people who said they would donate a kidney, and gave them the phone number of the transplant co-ordinator.

  • klfairy, well done. It takes courage to move things forward, even when you know your potential donors have willingly offered such a huge commitment. It's testament to how much they think of you.

You are so, so worth it, and how wonderful that these amazing people think so much of you! I hope all proceeds well with the screening and matching process, if that's the next stage.

Great courage there KL. I really hope that things work out too with the matching and screening. It cant have been easy to ask. How fantastic that you got 2 people who said yes, but then I guess you probably had an inkling.
Take care of yourself and good luck with it all.
