Hi Matrix. Lots to report... HR manager seems to be a straight arrow but I am not trusting anyone just at the moment. Also, have decided to fight the allegation tooth and claw. Have an appointment with an employment lawyer on Tuesday. Wrote my defence down today and I think I have a strong case. I will be attending the disciplinary meeting alone... because a) I am not in the union and b) I can't think of who to ask to accompany me! I am feeling strong and I know I can beat this.
Thanks for your support everyone. You all totally rock!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
crickett, you must take someone to the meeting, ask the union rep, even if you aren't a member - they can only say no and you are no worse off.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Hi again Crickett
I am in almost the same position as you at the moment. I was not in any union and had absolutely nobody to talk to at work as my manager prefers us to be in a tiny office alone (me, him and now a temp). I trust absolutely nobody and for the first time since leaving school in 1984 I feel I have made no friends in this job. I called a gentlemen who is a union rep in another building and met him. I was on long term sick leave and we met up in a pub and had a chat over a drink. He gave me brilliant advice, a shoulder to cry on and confidence and support to encourage me to take the matter further as he confirmed that my manager was in the wrong and there was no need for me to allow this to happen. He gave me advice as a colleague, not as a union official.
Following this I have spoken to my local union rep who was also brilliant and today I plucked up the courage to go against my manager's discouragement and I joined the union.
I feel 100% better about it all and now I feel I am not alone in this situation.
Please reconsider doing it alone. I had to cancel my initial meeting twice before I could get someone to accompany me. The meeting is now on the 19th December and I am anxious about it but not as much as before!
Stick with what you know is right. I am. I am not backing down because I have done nothing wrong but I know he has. I am a teeny bit proud of myself for being able to go this far without giving up and crawling back under my rock!
Good luck girl. We're behind you all the way!!

Definitely get someone in there with you Crickett - from both sides it is better as it means it has to be more equal and fair and they will hear things differently to you as well iyswim. They can ask to make notes as well which you could then refer back to in the future whereas if you are on your own you can't do both.
Busy Friday getting stuff done and got a nangy dh (but he's gone out for a bit now so calmness has resumed) He's helped out a friend with something today and has ended up doing loads for her which he hadn't planned for and is feeling very dumped on. Even he has started saying how selfish some of his friends are so maybe time to declutter a few;)Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

You really should have someone there. Even just to take notes and prove what went on. I'm not suggesting that your employers would distort things 'insert angel smiley' but it will make them think twice! But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
On the TTC front, make sure you're having plenty of folic acid
Thanks klfairy I was going to say the same thing. The other thing of course is not to get too stressed about TTC. ! The very best of luck

My news is that yesterday I did the mega, ultra stressful talk (can't go into detail but trust me on this one; it was a very high pressure, power and influence one) I worked on for ages. :j:j:j:jIt is done, it went really well (have been receiving feedback since) a:beer::beer:nd I am not doing anything as stressful until next September or so. Other news is that today I had a conversation with someone from overseas lands which is very likely to turn into a bit of 'side hustle'. Negative wealth, here we come. Sounds like a very productive trip well done.
I certainly can't hire a staff writer (and this will be defeating the pusrpose anyway - namely having some fun writing) but it feels good. I suppose this is going to be happening more often with the blog being in the top 2% of blogs worldwide and moving into the 1%.

Woke up to a winter wonderland - about 2 inches of fluffy, powdery snow. Lovely for the local kids that it's fallen at the weekend, they'll have good fun with their sledges - there's a great slope in the nearby park which is perfect for whizzing down quite safely.
I've got 3 parcels to post, so some breakfast then snowboots on. Reward will be a cuppa in the village before trudging back home again.
Have a good weekend folks. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
