Now I think hot tar is lovely :D

Other faves include creosote, nail polish and best of all petrol :D

I think neoprene is a departure for me......not normally a fan of rubberised products :rotfl:

Was SO glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that, I would be wiping it off the walls let alone the keyboard.

The best thing about the wet suit was it saved me an hour of time, and about $150! (ie by not going and searching for a new one).

Lady came and picked up her trademe buys tonight, so that is another $22.50 to the pot, so am up nearly 200 bucks today.

ps what is the orphanage that Olive Oyl was talking about. do they need any beanie hats only we have people over here knitting them....

  • Loving the idea of a "Freedom Flower" Plant pot - will ask DS1 to make me a drawing today.

It didn't feel right lumping it in with the mortgage as it more a "mid-term" savings pot (for annual insurances etc) and "emergency savings pot" for when something goes boom! Great solution.

What I am loving is that I am still at 1% plus budgeted savings and emergency pot at this stage a couple of weeks before Christmas. Now I won't say my current account is looking mega healthy but it is not empty and the funds for January bills / food are in there so I am guessing I am in a better position financially than lots of my friends in RL.

At this stage of the game it is about balancing the books with "budgeting a la FW" ;)- that is one that actually works and inching forward towards my dreams.................. so all is looking tickety boo.

So today's 15 minutes prep is inspired by looking back at some Christmas posts ...................... did you actually write your Santa list? Do you have an actual physical list of gifts you would love to receive? I'm not saying Santa is going to bring them all - but someone else who lives in your house might take the hint.:D

So I have a list of lovely things on my fridge - my favourite inspiring perfume(Estee Lauder Pleasures), chocolate (Green & Blacks) and a couple of practical things (thick navy tights for instance - you can't buy them in our village and a couple of pairs would mean I could wear some of my skirts in the winter). So no fancy cars - but Dinner with Gabriel Byrne IS up there :rotfl::rotfl:

We spend so much time faffing around creating our "perfect Christmas" for our loved ones that we never seem to think about making it easy for them to create a lovely day for us as well. One of the best gifts I can give the boys is a huge smile and a cuddle when I open a gift that they will see me using through the year.

So what's on your Christmas list?

  • Snow all gone! One day wonder.

I've no family here to see a Santa list, they're all overseas and three out of four don't send presents. So I've been my own Santa and had a few judicious spends with an overtime payment. My criteria were that the items had to either keep me warm or help me save money. So - slow cooker, quilted jacket, electric blanket. Toasty!

Today I feel my de-cluttering itch, I think it would be wise to capitalise on it, and it might be the airing cupboard which gets it today. You know that scene in Lawrence of Arabia where Peter O'Toole brandishes his scimitar and roars, "No Prisoners"? A carload to the PDSA would be very satisfying.

I didn't have a cuppa out yesterday, getting my parcels posted was reward enough, so a PDSA drop and a read of the Sunday papers in a wee cafe nearby is today's carrot. Whether I bite the carrot is getting to be immaterial, but having it in mind is good, and if when I get things done, that proves to be enough reward, then that's fine too!
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
